I am angry that all accurate oscillators are actually thermometers. The only way to have stable oscillations is disciplining to an atomic clock, usually via GNSS, because who has a hydrogen maser at home?

@f4grx What's your opinion on rubidium frequency standards? Used ones are sometimes available for reasonable prices.

These are pretty good standards by all means, but the units you find have already be used for long, so the physics package is a bit depleted.

I'm being pedantic with masers. Rb standards are very good, and specifically, stable without relying on gps disciplining. which I think is important.
