da_667,

awright. anyone have suggestions for an access point in the 50 dollar range?

da_667,

ended up settling on this. (thanks for the recommendation, @Viss )

https://store-us.gl-inet.com/products/beryl-ax-gl-mt3000-pocket-sized-wi-fi-6-wireless-travel-gigabit-router

does what I want it to. 2.5gbe uplink, and fast + dual-band wi-fi. little bit more than 50 bucks, but... It'll do.

@webframp @da_667 travel router with vpn back home where your plex server and security cams live. you can cast to a chromecast in a hotel room while traveling your plex library across the link! or you can use it as a mesh node or a wifi bridge

i have that one and the opal
if you plan to use usb3 port with 2.4ghz at the same time, you're gonna need some copper tape.

@da_667 https://store-us.gl-inet.com/products/beryl-ax-gl-mt3000-pocket-sized-wi-fi-6-wireless-travel-gigabit-router this is their newest beryl, and its 80 bux, a little more than you'd prefer, but i have the previous verison, i think i paid 60 for? and its buff as hell and runs openwrt. i use it as a bridge for a bunch of stuff in a tv console

da_667,

@Viss my ultimate goal is to run an AP with at least .11n speed for jailing all of my smart TV and IoT shit, connect it to the pfSense firewall, have it run DHCP, and get DNS from a pi-hole VM. Thanks for the suggestion

@da_667 you dont HAVE to get the expensive one, one of the older slates will do just fine
