I love BSD in any flavor, but weird to see someone say zfs is developed Linux first. Is this really the case?

I love seeing this. Every open source “company” that got fat from free contributors and then pivots to a vampire non OSS license deserves this kind of competition.

Leslie Lamport, of LaTeX fame, is a very accomplished mathematician and computer scientist with a Turing award for his work on “fundamental contributions to the theory and
practice of distributed and concurrent systems”. He just published a draft of his new book:

    "A science of concurrent programs"

    https://lamport.azurewebsites.net/tla/science.pdf

True to his pedagogic approach to everything he does, "The book assumes only that you know the math one learns before entering a university." Even the appendices are fantastic. Can only wish I'll remain this lucid at his 82 years old.

@albertcardona @adrianco hah. “Of LaTeX fame” made me laugh, because I first think “lamport clocks”. Too long in distributed systems, not enough academia.

A bunch of collaborators interviewed for this story about one of my co-workers at the Great Lakes Laboratory for Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. During electrofishing surveys of Harbour, Christine Boston regularly catches *huge which had been released when they outgrew people's home aquariums. They disturb plants and littoral areas and have no predators because nothing can eat them.
