@rstevens@thomasfuchs it’s confusing bc when they released both the iPad and Apple Watch I was like “why would anyone pay that much for a device that does the same thing their phone already does” and ate crow so I was questioning my sanity on the vision! “I don’t think anyone will want this….”
@tonydac@rstevens People used laptops (sometimes with detachable keyboards and touchscreens) for decades and watches for centuries—established product categories.
Tech companies have tried since the 80s to make face computers a thing and have never gotten any significant uptake. Closed is the Quest which has like 1% of households (on a good day) in the US with active users. They're just a extremely niche product because of the extremely obvious downsides (fatigue, nausea, awkwardness).
