Hmmm ... so lemmy-mastodon interop is worse than I thought.

Replying to posts from lemmy doesn't seem to go back to the originating community. For that to work, the post has to originate from mastodon.

And mastodon doesn't seem to recognise hashtags in lemmy posts.

I keep wondering if the fediverse even exists.

Ok … so that was wrong … replies do go through. Stupid me.

Hashtags are a problem though I’d say … as they might be a good way for mastodon and lemmy to come together. Following whole communities doesn’t work for mastodon users as you get a firehose of all comments. Following hashtags used by a particular community, when appropriate, might be a more manageable approach. Though, of course, mastodon doesn’t let you organise hashtags into lists.
