Moneo, in Happy pride month to the TF2 fans :P (Art by Milk Ouji)

Man I miss TF2 but I don’t want to go back to a broken game.

CaptainBasculin, in #SaveTF2 Petition

If this doesn’t succeed; I’m quitting TF2 for once and all. Even fucking EA dealt with similar crisises on their currently unprofitable games (Battlefront 2, Titanfall 2 etc.) and I’m talking about fucking EA, the greediest cunts in the AAA gaming industry. What stops Valve from investing a portion of what they earn from TF2 to better anticheat? Hell even outsource it, hire that fucking megascatterbomb dude who built a cheater/bot database. It certainly can’t be worse than how it is at this very moment.

KarfiolosHus, in It's time to try again!

It doesnt send me any email after multiple times. At least I tried

SeekPie,

It can take some time. Mine took ~12h to arrive. Also when you try again with the same e-mail, doesn’t it say that e-mail already registered?

KarfiolosHus,

Nothing, tried all of my emails, and after days it still didn’t arrive

I always just laughed at aimbotters that played any class other than Sniper back when I was an admin. They still couldn’t really kill anything because the only weapons that it helped with outside the sniper rifle are weak as shit or also have random scattering effects that aimbots don’t help with. All the actually useful weapons are projectile based, so aiming dead at a moving target means you will always miss.

trashgirlfriend,

Just sounds like shit cheats tbh

The modern ones are a lot better

ComplexLotus, in It's time to try again!

When playing on community servers I never witnessed aim bots until now.

  • Uncletopia servers are okay…
  • there are funny inofficial game modes like:
    • x1000 multiplies all weapon stats by 1000
    • classwars one team is one class. for example medics vs scouts
    • randomizer, get a random weapon (for example Medigun as heavy)
    • jump training maps: solve pakours
    • grappling hooks on ctf (community maps like ctf orange)
    • 100 players in one server

So: Community servers should be used more often by normal players, they offer diverse different maps and gamemodes and are a decentralized solution to the bot problem.

I just want more vanilla-like servers, as wacky gamemodes aren’t really my thing. I mostly play on Uncletopia (as much because of bots as because of random crits), but there are times when this is either full or empty, so we need more.

SeekPie,

Thank you, added to the post.

sp6, in TF2 Bot Counter

Note the vast majority of these bots are either trading bots or idler bots - NOT the “hacker” bots that infest casual mode. The hacker bots are actually included in the real player counter, and are estimated to be <1000 (from the recent “TF2: Nobody’s Home” video).

I mean there are people who still open crates and buy skins in a half broken game.

sp6, in Operation Magnetic Mayhem is now available to play

Keep in mind this is still in open beta, according to Moonlight.tf’s steam announcement. Still, looks fun!

krow,
@krow@lemmy.world avatar

yea bit annoying since they usually only have US and EU servers for the open beta, I’m too eager to play! but my ping on those servers are horrible and my friends wait for the AUS servers to open :(

Great, now welcome to the internet is stuck in my head for the next month…

My only critique would be the lyrics were great the until the last bit, that was just the original.

notfromhere, in Tangentially related to TF2, but Nintendo is forcing Facepunch to take down all Nintendo IP related stuff in Gmod workshop

They are doing a great job of pissing off their fans. Bold move, Cotton.

tacosanonymous, (edited ) in Tangentially related to TF2, but Nintendo is forcing Facepunch to take down all Nintendo IP related stuff in Gmod workshop

I hope it’s all being archived somewhere. This “please delete” attitude is unconscionable.

416d6f6e, (edited )

Only steam workshop is getting wiped, other sites like gamebanana, nexus will not be affected and fortunately, people are already reuploading to these sites and internet archive. Tbh i feel like nintendo is abusing copyright protect so much that it is actively hindering creativity, which was supposed to be the one thing copyright protects. They are just using it because they can and they hate their customers or something smh

gimpchrist,
@gimpchrist@lemmy.world avatar

As much as I don’t like the way Nintendo acts, they do have the copyright on characters and whatever else… how is it actively hindering creativity? You are free to create a mimkendo with totally awesome Italian man. You can’t use Mario or Nintendo stuff… make your own? Why is that such a big deal?

416d6f6e,

sorry, my comment isn’t phrased very well. What I’m trying to say is that they shouldn’t be that harsh on their fans, and even if they technically have the copyright, they should still have some sort of fair use policy for their fans so they can easily make fan content without having to worry about trouble. However, I am aware that this subject is a very debatable subject and I’m no lawyer and I’m also slightly inclined towards fan content, so take my words with a grain of salt.

gimpchrist,
@gimpchrist@lemmy.world avatar

I understand the fans wanting to make fan content without getting in trouble… I don’t think Nintendo is going to sue you for creating a drawing or a painting … it’s just when people take liberties with the characters… like Nintendo hentai or using Nintendo skins for violent games… like obviously that’s destructive to the image of the characters and I totally agree that Nintendo should protect its content

416d6f6e,

Understandable, its often times the “gray zone” in between the extremes where drama tends to happen, as it is hard to tell what is acceptable and what’s not. Sometimes nintendo cracks down hard on these stuff and sometimes they don’t (they didn’t crack down on gmod for the entire existence of it) which many people like me find annoying, as one day what you’re doing is okay and the next it’s not.

wrenchmonkey, in TF2 doesn't start after update to 64bit (launch options, custom cfg?)

try dropping the dxlevel arg, i have the rest of these (different resolution) and run fine.
