Exactly. It's the same with other young players. I thought they told the pundits to do a better job when Virgo and Hendry were really trying to say Si Jiahui's name very often during the World Championship. No 'this young Chinese' and stuff. But I guess it's already forgotten.
I don't know if you heard Hendry talk about Siripaporn, it was not just the words "I've never seen her play", it was also the tone in which he said them. There was contempt in his voice that she was in this event and that he should be asked to comment on her game.
It was very unprofessional.
The young players are the future basis of the sport. I would do much more to promote and support them rather than do the millionth feature about the class of whatever. But who am I? Just someone who loves the sport and has the passion to cover it on a broader spectrum without getting any money out of it. 🤷♂️
At the World Championship they had Victoria Shi for translation when Si Jiahui refused to go out of the tournament and they couldn't ignore him anymore.
Seeing (referee) Mark King stewarding at the English Open in Brentwood I remembered that (player) Mark King was suspended on 18 March this year "until the conclusion of the investigation or any subsequent charges that may or may not be brought" but there's no final verdict on the WPBSA pages.
Does anyone know more than what's in this short statement (and maybe even have a link)?
