A couple of recent arrivals. I'm a bit distracted so, I haven't any commentary at the moment – these vintage covers simply caught my eye. We have books of all types; something for nearly everyone. If you find yourself on our street, stop in for a look around!

Sex & relationship advice in the 1970s was vastly superior to that of the '50s, which were better than the '30s... We should know. We've been here the whole time!
These seem a little mansplain-ish by today's standards, & probably so. Still useful, though. Maybe good for laughs!

Our shop has a large toy collection–Not for sale. The collection is great for 3D photos!

I have a soft spot for books in matched sets. It's said these riffed on James Bond–An
American art historian/collector uses his job as cover, & pays for his hobby performing hits for a secret gov't org.
The Eiger Sanction was also a 1975 mountain-climbing action film produced, starring, & dir. by Clint Eastwood, who did most of his own stunts.

A smattering of recently arrived non-fiction titles. I don't feature these kinds of books often, but now you know such things are here. You might even see a ladybug on your way to our door. This is the first one I've seen this year.

Even Nostradamus didn't predict I'd spend so much time 2024 with Westerns, Horseback Riding, Harness Racing, & Horse Care. I rode a horse once–part of Summer camp, a Scout badge, or something like that... My jam is sci-fi. Maybe it's time I rewatch that space Western series, Firefly.

Art & Logic are not mutually exclusive, though they do occasionally exist in isolation, to their own detriment. I believe there is artfulness in everything. Logic often finds that even chaos has order if we can look close enough. Perhaps, after all, they're really part of the same thing.

It's insect season. Some are good, some aren't. These will help you know the difference. You might look the bugs up on your phone; but real books are better... You can swat the bad bugs with an old book. Try that with your phone and you could be out a few hundred bucks!

I'm still corralling our Westerns. Louis L'amour reigns in the genre. Here's a 3-vol. collection of "The Sacketts" & a DVD miniseries, to boot! Take the dusty trail to our Arts section for a book of Charles Russell paintings. Saddle up & mosey in for many more!

Adult Western fans, let's call this two-gun Tuesday. Passion & Action, double-barreled double entendre. Many of these series blew through like a tumbleweed. Others linger like the memory of perfumed passion after the musk of the dusty trail, numbering into the hundreds. Lace your chaps or your corset & rustle up some rollicking adventures!

Two pictures today. 1st is a Children's Dept. library card of the Dayton Public Library from 1945/'46. 2nd is an older picture of the Dayton Library that issued the card. I found the card tipped in a children's book with a page of long division homework.

Artist, author, & poet Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" has been popular for a century, which is why it isn't in this photo—I don't have one to show now because they always go quickly. Many consider him a philosopher, but he did not. This collection looks rough, but these books of his other writings are solid, for those who'd like to go beyond his most famous work.

Who doesn't love a good pop-up book; and–1 month from #ALIENDay, why has Ridley Scott's movie never had one?
The used book market doesn't often see pop-ups in working condition. This one is 100% functional with a small, unintended fold of the frontal lobe. In other words, it has minor brain damage.
