Before the Sepang MotoGP test, I interviewed Pedro Acosta. On the outside, he looks like a skinny teenager. Once he talks, there's a veteran's wisdom. "An old head on young shoulders", as crew chief Paul Trevathan says.
At Sepang, I spoke to crew chief Paul Trevathan about his new rider, Pedro Acosta. Trevathan was impressed by the 19-year-old's maturity and the incredible speed with which he learned. A superstar in the making.
At the GASGAS @Tech3Racing launch, we got the chance to talk to Pit Beirer. He said a lot of things about the team, but he also gave his view on the state of MotoGP, talked about restricting aerodynamics, and who will get which wildcards
Looks like KTM have chosen to keep Pol Espargaro, move Augusto Fernandez into a testing/replacement rider role with a view to getting a full-time seat in an expanded team in 2025. Acosta in at Tech3.
Pol Espargaro just spoke to us at Assen about his return from injury. It was a long and difficult recovery. There were times he felt like giving up, especially in the first few weeks. He lost 9kg because his jaw was wired completely closed. He has trained hard to get that muscle and strength back.
He is very close to being 100% fit. Will race at Silverstone. Very grateful to KTM for the amazing way they treated him. Expects to be racing next year too #MotoGP#DutchTT#Assen#GasGas#KTM
Another absentee: Pol Espargaro will miss the Sachsenring. Had a medical examination this morning, and there was still some swelling around his vertebrae. Folger to substitute.
Personally, I'm happy. Would be better if Pol skipped Assen as well, came back fully fit and healthy at Silverstone in August. Have time to recover. No need to risk a life-changing injury.
