ALMA, as part of the Event Horizon Telescope, is unveiling a new image of our Milky Way's supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*, in which strong magnetic fields can be seen…

The most exciting part is that this hints to a jet that would be hidden from our vantage point in our galaxy… but imagine that! We might be like M87, just at a smaller scale!

Quite some recent activity on #astroph, on the simulations of high-z structure formation jointly with primordial #magneticfields
Two interesting works lately:

1. https://arxiv.org/abs/2402.14079 by Ralegankar et al.
2. https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.05672 by Sanati et al.

In both cases, the introduction of magnetic fields in the B~0.05-0.1nG (comoving) already in the initial conditions is found to boost the formation of halos and stellar mass earlier than in standard ΛCDM.
