The wyf and I have been considering hosting a foreign-exchange student a year from now. But I think I would be too embarrassed — about #Fairbanks and about #Alaska. As a people, we continue to devalue education and impoverish the public sphere. It's not just #Wasilla; SO MANY Alaskan cities are dismally ugly and unwalkable. How could I invite somebody to spend a year in this ANTI-COMMUNITY OF A STATE?
