Delta Chat may be criticized for not being the most secure messenger in some sense or not the most feature rich. When it comes to interoperability, however, our efforts and collaborations are the biggest game in town, no? The two biggest sets of internet standards revolve and operate at massive scale around E-Mail and the Web. Our approach fully engages and takes up these extremely impactful sets of standards, and reliably rewires them into a modern UI #deltachat#webxdc#chatmail#xkcd927
The "webxdc evolve" project is now official and was just announced from one of our early followers and advisers, @ansuz , but it's not just a boilerplate announcement! Ansuz dives deep starting from his yearslong cryptpad maintainership history, his early involvement in #webxdc up to the present and future .... Very good reading if you want to understand some.foundational considerations around evolving an end-to-end encrypted, decentralized web app platform ... https://cryptography.dog/blog/announcing-webxdc-evolve/
@delta actually @matrix itself doesn't have widgets. Widgets only exists in @element. The specification work is abandoned (https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-spec-proposals/issues/3803#issuecomment-1472194956) and send people to a chatroom. I asked there and got no answers. So I think, there may be room for #webxdc in matrix as it's an already existing standard with existing impl. Other clients could start on this standard without waiting for "widgets". IMO, widgets and webxdc are different and both are legit.
Hi everyone,
in the latest monocles chat release which should come next week to F-Droid and the Playstore we improved the implementation of webxdc. There are many different webxdc apps you can use inside monocles chat.
You can now even play chess or other games with your friends 🎉
I was planning to propose free hosting to serve markdown files converting them into HTML websites. But I don't know why one would trust me for that, more than other platform.

Making tutos to help non-tech people to build a #smolweb site autonomously should certainly be more useful.
install a web server
mangle IP addresses (static/dynamic, port forwarding...)
register a domain name
configure it
choose a CMS and use it
I don't know if all these concepts are accessible?
Website design app → Bunch of local *.md → render locally using static site generator (jekyll whatever) → zip to #webxdc app → enter you IM credential → create chatroom #mywebsite@adele.home.tld → publish webxkc app to chatrrom → share #mywebsite@adele.home.tld to friends (or use invite feature) → people can join and view the website → IM is the new browser.
Would work with deltachat, xmpp (cheogram has support), matrix support is lacking
Just learnt that #MonoclesChat (apparently) supports running #WebXDC apps over #XMPP, but I'm not able to figure out how it works. Anyone used it? :xmpp:
While certain platform billionaires chatter about "everything" or "super" app architectures, we prefer to deliver and improve them -- say "Hi" to xstore@testrun.org :) #deltachat#webxdc
the last days, i happily did some basic work for a calendar #webxdc “chat app”; testing the new export/import APIs.
in practise, you can eg. use a joint calendar in a group - e2ee and network isolated - and share selected events (.ics files) via other channels (webxdc - and so the calendar app - works experimentally with #xmpp#cheogram 🥳 and with #deltachat)
I finished the base functionality of my time tracking #webxdc app.
While the Design still needs some love and there is still much I want to add and improve, I decided that it is "done-enough" for a public release:
Is there a #FOSS software for creating a wishlist e.g. for weddings or birthdays? Ideally it would be a simple #selfhosted or hosted webpage where the admin can add items they fancy and others can browse and reserve them.
