What is the difference between boost and an upvote?

1chemistdown,

Cool. For all the people I’ve been hitting boost on, congratulations! I have zero followers. I also hit the upvote too.

Press boost once, it boosts, twice it unboosts

Here is the link to the open access article.

It’s an interesting study that many here are missing the details. It’s not a no meat diet but avoiding things like ground beef and having a steak instead. It’s not avoiding carbohydrates, but it’s replacing things like: puffed rice cereals, fruit juices, sugary drinks, American cheese, and vanilla wafers, with things that are high in resistant starch like: nuts, beans, lentils, brown rice, quinoa, etc.; and they made a distinction that things are not ground for the healthy versus unhealthy diet. This means, no nut butters or ground oat flour, etc.

The whole study hypothesis is food that is digested further in the digestive tract and can reach the intestinal bacteria is far healthier than food that is digested in the stomach and upper GI tract. What they found is far more calories are absorbed by the easy digestion food, with almost 100% of calories being absorbed. Whereas the food that doesn’t get digested until the lower GI tract have few calories absorbed by the human, more calories absorbed by bacteria, and the bacteria population grows with more healthy bacteria. These bacteria in turn produce a lot of healthy short chain fatty acids which are known healthy fats for both the vascular system and brain plasticity.

It really is a big deal because it is one of the first studies to really show that things matter and why they matter. Many experts in diet and nutrition considered something like this to be the case, but we’ve been awaiting actual evidence for this. They carried out a great preliminary study, and now we need to see if they can get the same results with a larger population.

A Reddit mod that spearheaded Reddit migration first promoted Lemmy and then changed his promotion to kbin upon learning some questionable human rights issues with Lemmy. I’m only giving a synopsis of what they said and they had a large write up with links to a variety of sources that I did not look into. I’m just reporting what the mod spearheading this effort said.

Yes, that was what the mod said changes their mind to have everyone switch to kbin.

Yes, Christian needs to make something for here. Apollo for kbin

r/[deleted]; their redditmigration and other subs are all deleted too.

Congratulations!! The piece of advice I wish someone told me is the first while sucks but it's temporary, and during that period the kid is going to be constantly learning. They're learning off of you, your partner, and the world, but mostly you as the parent. During this time, the kid will be doing nothing and might upset you with all the crying and what not. It is super important that you model the person you want your child to be. That means showing calm in the face of exhaustion and being yelled out by a tiny bundle of pee and poop (sometimes puke). Always calm, take deep breaths. Make sure that tiny thing knows you are there and you are unfazed. Model the person you want your child to be in this world.

Besides that, enjoy the ride. Hardest and funnest thing you will do!

The Future of Reddit after the Blackout

As an effect of the recent Reddit blackout, the company is now surrounded by disappointed investors and community. I predict that Reddit may end up facing the same fate as Tumblr: being sold to another company. Only time will tell what the future holds for Reddit, but one thing is for sure - the protest will leave a lasting...

For me, I was on my way out of Reddit when the new Reddit appeared and features on RES were starting to break, but the I got Apollo. That app was keeping me there and I have no reason stay after it no longer works. I’m just deciding if I want to delete my oldest active account or not. There is a lot of information in there but I don’t see going back. I just look forward to good communities that aren’t drowned out by a million bots over here.

Eventually reddit will be mainly bots

I feel like it is already there. Once, you only had to block user's like GallowBoob; but now days it's an endless supply of repost bots. I've had to block so many subs from r/all even to look at that. Then you have all the news skewing by mods and other bs stuff going on. I really stick to my home page a lot these days. I remember when r/all would constantly change and now it stagnates with the same 10 posts that bots put on 50 different pages that all came to be when they opened up sub creation to anyone. Just a giant bot circle jerk.

You’re not alone. It sucks but they’re heading towards locking off all that stuff unless you’re a paid subscriber.

It’s also a chance to start your hobby community.

OC Some ramblings about the future

Tbh, this has been on my mind for the past two days, so I hope you guys don't mind if I unload it here. I tend to obsess and I figure if no one cares, then at least I can get it out of my head instead of thinking about it all the time. Also sorry for the length, I promise I have a doctor's note....

Your comment gave me feels. You forget things after 10-13 years. Yes, the calmer sit back and have coffee and share with each other. But I need a functional app for my phone. I lose which tab I have what going in so fast on browser these days. Maybe I need to relearn how to live that way.
