Hey Indian academia - what's our equivalent of an ethics board?
A PhD candidate recently sent me a long questionnaire and there's no consent form or supervisor mention anywhere and I want to gently push back.

No. That doctrine is brahminical apologia attempting to construct an ahistorical supposedly meritorious past where coincidentally brahmins deserved their power.
Zounds. I make one post linking to a white American man who reposts it and I get more notifications in an hour than I have ever got for anything I've posted on Mastodon ever.
This is why I don't feel at home in this space btw. My fannish experience online is already skewed Global North. On twitter I had Indian and Global South dominating my interactions. Until I can find that again, I continue to feel like an unwilling immigrant.
I was looking at wheat straw dinnerware, the newest thing of the eco-friendly plastic-like stuff.
If you research it though, you'll find out that anything that is meant to last longer than one use has some amount of petrocarbon plastic in it.
And its hard to find actual percentages, even on a site like this - https://www.mynusco.com/list/
I just want you all to know that on the first night I sat down to a dinner of rock hard chola because I forgot that I had soaked but not cooked them when I made the tari.
On the second night I pressure cooked and they were still chewy.
Tonight, the third night, I finally have cholas that squish.
@anirvan@sushubh It comes from colonial breach of promise laws.
A larger philosophical discussion around it is complicated and deserves nuance. Consent obtained under false premise can cover anything from lying about one's caste, to lying about having worn a condom before penetration. Lack of informed consent deserves nuance and rape laws are slowly recognising that. But its a complicated discussion for feminists, let alone moribund courts.
The Telangana police filed a closure report in court claiming that Rohith Vemula was not a Dalit and killed himself out of fear of discovery. This is such an obscene lie that it deserves international attention. #Casteism#DalitRights
The latest version of white saviorism is particularly ghoulish - the worse the atrocities happening in Palestine, the more confidant these liberals feel about making anodyne 'boost fundraisers' and 'let food through' posts.
Any person who cannot denounce the state of Israel is abetting genocide.
It's not new - liberal Zionists have been two-sidesing their mutual peace bullshit for decades - but it is imperitive to not let them move the Overton window of acceptable solidarity towards quiet colonialism instead of active genocide. Solidarity starts with demanding dismantling the coloniser.
(This post was triggered by seeing a white Jewish author who has made their liberal Zionism very clear in the past being excused because he said something in support of other Jewish people trying to give aid to Palestinians. This author has not talked about a single Palestinian author, ever.)
(I say this as someone who has seen the uselessness of Indian leftists who denounce atrocities in Kashmir and the North-East without denouncing the Indian colonial regime. Supporting azaadi is the start of solidarity, not the end of it.)
Look, it's not like I support corruption. But if ever there was a time for the Congress to put their Bofors honed talent to work, it is now.
Fucking buy out all those MPs and make them think they are rats on a sinking ship.
We are so close to drowning Narendra Modi. Just sink him for good.
For the last few months I have been saying to all my fellow dispairing friends, you can't say its lost till its lost. We have to always believe in a chance.
HAH. TAKE THAT.
What I really miss about twitter is being able to @ a brand and blast them after all other options of customer support have failed. Not because it achieved anything, just. You know. To vent spleen
@adnan oh mine is alive and I still regularly use it to catch up on all the India and Africa news I don't get anywhere else. But it feels wrong to not reply to friends going through stuff and then show up just to tell a company they suck
