Sure, but that quote calls it a “virus” but the headline says “fungus”.

ApostleO,

Shit, I’d do that job for minimum wage, if only to see Musk fired.

ApostleO,

The whiplash when I realized it wasn’t a critique of those ideas but endorsing them.

It literally read like they were outlining those positions as straw men to be torn down, and then was like, “Yep! That scarecrow has the right idea!”

ApostleO,

I haven’t had my blood boil like reading that McConnell piece.

I can’t even put the rage into words.

ApostleO,

I want to see this variation of a zombie movie.

Patient zero is a prominent politician.

His handlers continue to puppet him, because they already spent so much on his campaign.

Followers literally line up to be bitten and infected.

ApostleO,

I get the hate for those movies, but I honestly enjoyed them all.

They are what got me to watch TOS, finally. Then I did a full watch through of the series. They were great for revitalizing the fan base and making new fans.

I honestly love having the movies as a different universe/timeline. Saves us from tone whiplash, like Shakespeare TNG Picard vs Rambo Movie Picard.

ApostleO,

Imagine how hard it would be to resist wording things in the Imperative just… Accidentally.

You get frustrated, yell “Shut up!” at someone in passing, and that person is now mute unless you realize your mistake and undo it.

ApostleO,

To confirm what you mean by “I’m a conservative”, which of these commonly held “conservative” beliefs (each which implies a lack of empathy) do you not subscribe to (i.e. “I don’t think like that…”)

  • Black people only get harassed by police more often because they commit more crime.
  • Gay people shouldn’t be allowed to marry.
  • Women should not have the choice of abortion.
  • The state is allowed to infringe upon free speech to prevent you from telling children about gay people.
  • Foreigners are ruining this county.
  • Climate change is a lie.
  • COVID was a lie.
  • Contemporary statues honoring Confederate traitors and slave owners are “honored cultural heritage”.
  • All corporate media lies about Donald Trump, except that corporate media which supports him.
  • Rich people earned all that money, and we have no right to take it back, or to limit how they use it.
ApostleO,

At the very least, there needs to be some serious audits of the power structures of Starfleet and the Federation. So many evil admirals…

ApostleO,

To be fair, this comic isn’t just about abortion. It could also apply to things like “modesty” laws in places like Iran.

It doesn’t matter what the ice cream represents. If the argument for a law is wholly religious in nature, then it is unjust.

ApostleO,

Might subcategorize, like “Frankensteinian irony.”

A question about Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. [Spoilers]

The whales Gracie and George were stated to have wandered into San Francisco as calves. Outside of feeding events which can include the famous bubble nets, humpback whale pods usually consist of a lone mother and calf (or calves) pairing with a trailing “escort” male. Humpbacks are one of the few mammals that can be nursing...

ApostleO,

That, or she should be named “Mary” instead, I guess.

ApostleO,

Debt strike!

Debt strike!

Debt strike!

ApostleO,

Honestly, I put animal abusers in a lower circle of hell, along side child abusers.

It’s about the power differential. The difference between a white adult male and a black adult female (for example) might be considerable, but its not going to be even close to the power differential between either of those adults and a child or a pet.

ApostleO,

Currently somewhere around 10 years single.

I struggle with social cues, anxiety, etc.

It’s lonely.

ApostleO,

Confidence? Not so much. But it’s less a fear of rejection, and more a fear of upsetting someone.

In short, my thought process goes like this:

  • Approaching women can make them uncomfortable.
  • I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable.
  • Therefore, I don’t approach women.

I basically limit myself to online dating, but as we all know, that’s a shit show unless you’re in the top 10% on the scale of attractiveness. And so I’ve been single 10+ years.

ApostleO,

I, for one, thought this was a reasonable take.

What else do people expect you to comment? Like…

Neat.

Or…

Thoughts and prayers for the driver and his family.

?

What discussion can a post like this garner except speculation? And to preface your speculation with an acknowledgement that the story has no real details… seems fair to me.

You picked two random days, compared their active user counts, and concluded that it must indicate a continuous trend.

Yesterday, it was 60°F out. Today it’s 30°F out. Clearly, by next week, everyone in my town will be dead by freezing.

Experts struggle with statistics. Laymen, doubly so.

EDIT:

Also, that’s only a difference of 7%, so it’s not even that drastic.

EDIT2:

Also also, what does any of this have to do with your post being removed? What was the post? Did the mod/admin give you a reason for removal?

ApostleO,

Golly! Three whole data points?! Now we are cooking with gas!

/s

ApostleO,

Which explains why it was standard procedure for presidents to put their money in a blind trust. And why Trump didn’t.

ApostleO,

The population of NYC is 8 million, and they had fewer than 1M votes for mayor? That, like, 12.5%.

Even if you limit it to just citizen population, I found that number to be 6-7 million. Thats still only a 14-16% voter turnout.

The fuck?

ApostleO,

The previous conviction was overturned on a procedural issue, like a mistrial. He wasn’t pardoned or found not guilty, so it isn’t double jeopardy. It’s just a “redo” to make sure another jury would still convict without the procedural issue.

AM radio law opposed by tech and auto industries is close to passing | Ars Technica (arstechnica.com)

A controversial bill that would require all new cars to be fitted with AM radios looks set to become a law in the near future. Yesterday, Senator Edward Markey (D-Mass) revealed that the “AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act” now has the support of 60 US Senators, as well as 246 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives, making...

ApostleO,

I had never heard that before, and that now my truth. It makes so much sense.

ApostleO,

the [worst] Democrat [is] better than the best Republican

That’s generally true, but not in the hypothetical. I’d honestly vote for Mitt Romney before I’d vote for hypothetical Democrat-Ticket Trump.
