Free Power for 16 years from a modified Washing Machine / Water Wheel (youtu.be)
I’ve been watching the channel for a few years now and find the setup fascinating. Also many more great videos on his channel so highly recommend.
Just a few attention-grabbing retro game ads that would land studios in hot water today. (more in post body) (lemmy.world)
I know they’re insensitive and tacky, but I have to admit that a part of me misses when games ads were off the walls like this....
The PlayStation 2
Ah yes, the super chad of its console generation, tons of great games, dvd playback, and PS1 compatibility! What’s not to love about this legendary system?...

How to revitalize this sub?
I love the original patientgamers subreddit so I was stoked to find this community. And because lemmy seems to have a more knowledgeable crowd any topic I posted here had great engagement and discussions, despite the small community. I am too busy to be a mod but maybe I can help by sparking this discussion: what would be needed...
Patient gamers, what are your favourite city builders?
As Cities Skylines II still isn’t worth it (the sub has a regular thread about that, in summary: no it’s not: old.reddit.com/…/is_cities_skylines_ii_worth_it_m…) which games scratch your city building itch?
First game you played
Title says it all, what was the first game you remember playing and had fond memories of?...
What book(s) are you currently reading or listening? 08 April
Finished Starsight by Brandon Sanderson. Second book in Cytoverse series. Loved the way the series progressed, though didn’t liked the post-ending much. Going to start the novella soon....

How much coffee do y'all typically drink in a sitting?
I am worried that I drink too much at once. I don’t drink coffee daily but typically when I do drink coffee I will have 4-6 shots of espresso. I am not asking if this is healthy per se, I’m more searching for confirmation that it isn’t too uncommon lol....
What's your favourite era for video games?
Era can be defined as a console generation, a decade, one specific year, whatever you want. I’d encourage you to give a list of your favourite games from the generation of choice and why it was the best to you. Nostalgia is a totally viable reason too....
The Sega Dreamcast
It is undeniable that the dreamcast was a solid machine that had good games and a sleek look, but was ultimately overshadowed by the goliath that is the PS2....
Older patient gamers: what is your preferred gaming platform?
I used to be a PC-only gamer but the older I get the more I gravitate toward very ‘simple’ platforms....
Cities Skylines 2: "Beach properties assets are all gone and my city is screwed. Thanks a lot." (forum.paradoxplaza.com)
It doesn’t stop. It just never stops.
SteamWorld Heist 2 - Official Reveal Trailer (www.youtube.com)
What search engines are you using ?
As the title says! My choice, for now, is Leta, directly from Mullvad. I really like because there are no ads by deafult, which is particular important since those ads usually lead to malware....
Is anyone still playing Command and Conquer Generals (+ Zero Hour)?
There’s a certain cheesiness and non-political-correctness that’s refreshing....
Games that still need more patience: what games released a year ago (or older) are you waiting for a sale on? Or that need another patch?
Other than a slew of Nintendo titles that maybe hopefully will come down in price (the patient gamers’ bane), I have my eye on the next time Divinity: Original Sin 2 goes on sale. A friend who never plays anything other than WoW loved playing Larian’s newest with me and I’m trying to get her to pick this up. Pretty sure...
