Piñata Dragons: they don't have a hoard room, they swallow it and keep it in their hoard stomach.

Once their hoard stomach is full, they start growing in size (young, adult, ancient, etc.) to accommodate more and more riches.

Once defeated, adventurers must beat the riches out like their namesake indicates.

Squirrel Dragons: smaller than other dragons, they amass smaller hoards and scatter them around their area of influence for safekeeping.

Sadly, they are slightly scattered brained and forget half their hoard locations. So, an adventurer might get lucky and get a small hoard free and clear, or get hunted by the squirrel dragon until they get their riches back.

Ponzi Dragon: an older dragon who saw amassing their own hoard as a waste of their time, and saw fit to instead offer young dragons wonderful investment opportunities and amazing returns for no effort.

Make your gold work for you, they said as younger dragons gave parts of their hoards away, only to never hear from them again.

This led to very angry dragons, more than usual anyway. When these conned dragons would normally have been sleeping on gold, they instead ravaged many a countryside.

Cowbird dragons: dragons who find themselves tired of sitting in one place to protect their hoard, but still want to enjoy their riches, hide theirs in the hoards of stronger dragons.

Unbeknownst to them they work as the safekeepers of the Cowbird dragons, who hide their wealth in the hoard of the stronger and mask it with their draconic powers making it invisible to the dragon they're using.

Compound (interest) dragon: these dragons don't grow in size and power as they age, instead the larger their hoard the stronger and bigger they get.

Some cults accumulate wealth through any means to grow the dragon their worship, while holding their leash via economic means. If they don't obey the cult, they move funds to another branch and reduce the dragon's power comparably.

Adventurers would find ways to loot the hoard before a fight to increase their chances of survival.

Cloud Dragons: these dragons can't land and must always remain aloft, at the whim of the winds. Only the eldest of their kind can make way under their own will, some even taking control of the currents.

There's not many of this kind of dragon, as it takes a strong will in the young to keep their shape together during strong winds and clear skies where clouds find it hard to coalesce.

I'm feeling brave, so I have restarted a long book series so I have enough momentum to read the latest book that came out which I avoided just in case in wasn't as great as the rest of the series.

All so I can restart another series, my favorite, so I can get enough momentum to read the final book which I've avoided just in case it sucks.

Just normal things.

You know what might be a fun one shot?

A wizard's chess set became sentient and is on the lose challenging people to matches. A pair of knights, two stone golems, a couple casters, and dozen minions.

The wizard needs to come along, and with each defeated piece they regain chunks of their magic syphoned by the pieces.

If the party succeeds in time, then the wizard becomes the king piece, corrupted by the altered magic, and the final boss.

You know why I don't like myconid story time?

All their tales have to have a hidden morel.

I was just reminded of an NPC idea I had, Harold the Red (red herring).

They appear to always have heard a story, song, or overheard conversation, that's slightly wrong. Always sending the party in the wrong direction (slightly), wrong type/number of enemies, something's always off.

But, they're friendly and reliable! After a fashion.

You know what would be a good name for a podcast or blog analyzing monster/creature stat blocks?

Stat Trek.

Add a segment at the end for modifying/reflavoring them, for extra fun times.

I like the idea of magic working like a gas, and pooling in the deeper places and ruins which helps spawn monsters, portals, etc.

And so wizards build towers to perform experiments higher up, where there's less erratic ambient magic to mess with their research.

If magic is not cleared from the deepest parts, it will seep further and cause issues.

Water becoming infused or poisoned by wild magic, creatures long asleep being roused, earthquakes, volcanos, etc.

If too much seeps for too long, it will eventually reach the core, and who knows what would happen then. A sentient world?

Oh, oh, imagine cities and/or monuments working like anchors keeping lay lines from moving freely.

The horde of [insert group of people] attacking civilization is believed by most to be random and only for riches and mayhem, but there’s a deeper purpose.

What everyone forgot, but they remember, is that lay lines used to be free and they’re intent on returning to the old ways.

Watching anime makes me realize that, for voice actors, all the dramatic emotional stuff isn't the hardest part, but in fact it's all the screaming.

CastAtWill,
@CastAtWill@dice.camp avatar

The fact the anime in question is Dragon Ball (Z Kai) might be skewing things a bit.

CastAtWill,
@CastAtWill@dice.camp avatar

@oliphant I forgot about crying, since the main emotion in DBZ is screaming.

Todays DnD session had both a dungeon and a dragon! We won DnD!

Also, we stole a dragon egg successfully, made a deal with a hag, didn’t help someone keeping a devil at bay, ignored a “free” wish, fought duergar because we didn’t speak Dwarven, and had a nice conversation with a talking frog called Lilly.

It was a packed session.
