I have been watching left-leaning Twitter analysts and pundits for 15 years now. While a tiny number of them have ever been consistently right about anything, the more disturbing thing to me has how little impact ANY of this social media plasma has in serving anyone but MAGAs and other bad actors. They rely on social media bullshit to change their world. And it does. Liberals pretend anti-bullshit will do the same. But it almost never does.
@shoq Just lately, maybe I’m missing some posts, you sound so discouraged and how it’s all futile. Criticism is fine, but the vagueness of it leaves no path for constructive discussion. I always thought you were more into constructive ideas than that.
@shoq It absolutely is the pain I’m sensing and I am concerned. Can’t really assume nobody is noticing, pretty much everyone is commenting on it. Pain has a way of distorting focus. Just hoping you’re healing.
Another thing I’ve noted about women like Marge Greene, Elise Stephanik, Nancy Mace, Kaleigh McEnany, and Lauren Boebert? No one on social media—even on the right—ever seems to openly complain of misogyny when people verbally savage them for their idiocy.
I’m watching Trump trial analysis by Katy Tur, Andrea Mitchell, and Chris Jansing. It’s sort of like listening to Martha Stewart, Killer Mike, and Whoopie Goldberg discussing the manufacturing of o-rings following the Challenger explosion. We need a new news network, stat.
@shoq Bless you for offering up your brain for that pablum. I can’t watch them without wanting to hurt, break, something or go screaming into the void—- which causes my neighbors to report me.
As CNN documents, it was outsiders who caused the violence at UCLA, not the students. And it's vital to keep in mind that the police "stood by for hours" -- watching (obviously indifferent if not pleased) as the outsiders beat up protestors and journalists -- and thereby became collaborators with the violent intruders into a peaceful protest.
Here are four @msnbc hosts who make me change the channel very fast. But that’s me? Which of these do you wish were in a different line of work. Check all that apply.
Morally correct or not, the one thing this repugnant MAGA virus has changed in popular culture is the number of non-violent liberals repeatedly suggesting that strategic political assassinations might have some pragmatic value in saving America, if not the entire planet.
@shoq That would be great except that it is those behind the scenes who fund & direct their ‘avatars’. Kill one, 10 more are available. Now, seeking and finding the sources of their funding and evil missions, would be more effective. However, few would recognize the names.
Lately I can’t escape the thought that most social media is just a logical extension of the common experiences most of us had in high school. It has the same obsession with simplistic triviality passing as wisdom; mean girls of every gender; bullies who almost always get away with it, nerds thinking they’re gifted, special or persecuted; privileged white kids saving whales; and hard-working brown nosers, well on their way to a smelly success.
@shoq Let’s you, me and 6 others we know, ‘randomly’ call 4 of our friends… and call that a Masto poll! Bet we can get it on MSNBC! No, wait, they don’t take lib leaning polls.
