I'm stuck on an question, if anybody has any concrete advice.

I have a background video. According to WCAG 2.2…

  • SC 2.2.2 indicates that there should be a means to pause moving, blinking, scrolling, or auto-updating information

  • SC 1.2.1 indicates that there should be an alternative or audio for video

Assuming the only "information" in the video is just vibe setting, is anything really required here beyond a text description? Am I missing anything?

Zoom finally updated their Mac app's design. It's an improvement, but they used a hexagon instead of an octagon as a "stop sign," and it's going to drive me insane until they change it again in like 10 years.

Also, why is there an X inside of it? A stop sign already means stop. It's like they couldn't decide on an icon, so they used two.

A terrible pattern that has crept up in web, desktop, and mobile apps these days is when you click or tap on text that should be interactive/editable, and some other thing pops up instead.

  • Arc browser does it with their URL bar.

  • Tailwind gives me one more reason to dislike them with their search

  • Google does it with their mobile search

It's bad because you're looking at text and intending to do something and then some other thing jumps out of nowhere, causing a distraction.

I bought a Wirecutter pick TCL TV. I’ve been working on setting it up for at least 45 minutes. I have no choice but to enter my Google account details, and it’s had to go through multiple update processes. I’m so fucking mad. What a piece of shit. I can’t wait until this thing is done so I can block it from my WiFi. I don’t even trust that it will not save my credentials if I disable it.

I'm kicking myself for not discovering Marnie Stern like 15 years ago.

One song in and I'm already hovering over the buy button on concert tickets for a show I know I'll never be able to convince anybody else to go to.

It took them a few hours, but they eventually realized this was a hilarious headline.

I’ve come to the conclusion that here’s a situation that’s basically the opposite of imposter syndrome where you’re the only person who has any idea what they’re doing, and since nobody else is able to recognize this, it’s effectively the same as being an actual fraud.

I love* that there’s a whole industry of dogshit websites out there that constantly republish the same shit articles about every upcoming TV show or movie, so that it looks like they have some kind of timely information.

Try finding out when the next season of a show you enjoyed is coming out and you’ll see what I mean.

*fucking hate

The desk in my hotel room is 30.5" tall, which is about six inches higher than it should be with this chair.

Losing circulation in your hands because your keyboard is at chest height is rad. All the cool kids are doing it.

My flight was delayed almost four hours. The fact that this is apparently every other passenger’s first time encountering an airplane is not helping us get off the ground any quicker.

@cdevroe How was the eclipse in Geneva? My mom had friends who were there for it as well, presumably parked at a winery.

Tomorrow is my birthday. What kind of dinner should we go out for?

(Other than Korean or sushi since I just had those the other day)

Anybody have suggestions?

I’ve seen a million photos of eclipses before, but I think I the things you don’t see in the amazing photos are what will stick with me the most. The weird light, the 360° sunset, the quiet, and how much colder it got.

The post-eclipse return traffic is real. Gonna be a long one.
