I work in financial reporting, so I have a decent idea of what makes up things like operating profit/loss and Adjusted EBITDA.

This does not look good for Reddit and if the company only managed a $90.8m loss after jacking up API costs, nuking virtually every third-party client, backstabbing every power mod, giving alternatives like Lemmy and Kbin an actual user base and selling off user data to Google, then I fully expect things to get a lot worse on the site.

Earnings before interest, taxation, deprecation and amortisation. Interest is classed as other income and taxation is kinda self-explanatory.

Depreciation is spreading the cost of a fixed asset over the course of its useful life. So let’s say you spend $40,000 on a machine that you expect to keep for 20 years, and scrap for $1,000 at the end of its expected life. You depreciate it on the straight-line basis (meaning it goes down by a fixed amount each financial year, or depreciate it by $1,950 each year. Straight-line isn’t the only form of depreciation. Cars for example go down on a reducing balance basis, meaning their value goes down by a lot more during the early years of their lifespan.

Amortisation is like depreciation, but for long term loans and intangible assets (things like customer lists, patents, etc.)

Dragonball Evolution was so shit that it drove Akira Toriyama out of retirement, which led to Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, Broly, Super Hero and an entirely new anime/manga series titled Dragon Ball Super.

It even technically is leading to Dragon Ball Daima, which looks like a serious effort to try and do the whole ‘Goku is a kid again’ concept that Dragon Ball GT fucked up 25 years ago.

Dragonball Evolution was a horrible Hollywood adaptation of Dragon Ball’s original plot.

Imagine that instead of making it the action-packed goofy parody of Return to the West that Akira Toriyama originally envisioned, you instead make Goku and Chi Chi US high-schoolers and Bulma some kind of secret agent.

It’s more like the movie was so utterly dogshit that Toriyama felt he had to personally step in and ensure the franchise wasn’t going to die on that negative note.

Me and my (then) partner went to London for Winter Wonderland and decided to make a day trip out of it. The distance was from us walking everywhere around West London and her not wanting to take any public transport, whether it was a bus or the tube. Thing is, we both had Oyster cards and our fares would have been capped for the day.

  2. Wasn’t aware that the show was produced specifically for Fox Kids, probably because Fox Kids/Jetix in the UK was known moreso for hours of Power Rangers reruns and the occasional good show. That changes things slightly.
  3. Wasn’t the reboot commissioned specifically with fans of the original 1992-97 show in mind? It feels weird to do this when the core demographic that has nostalgia for the original animated series is likely in their thirties now.

Obviously I can understand why mysoginists are hated upon, As their belief is all women are trash or men are superior etc. But why are incels also generally hated upon? They are lacking in a way that makes them unable to gey in a relationship, but that shouldn’t necessarily mean they are mysoginists, right?...

The claims that Andrew Tate is a huge misogynist aren’t even overblown either.

There are legitimately video clips around where Tate is visibly giddy over the thought of women being stoned for adultery. If someone is laughing and cracking jokes over a woman being pelted to death with rocks, they should not be trusted with dating advice.

I wish there was a League of Legends community that wasn’t run by the main /r/leagueoflegends moderators and didn’t have official Riot Games endorsement.

The subreddit feels heavily censored and sanitized to make Riot look good.

Brood War flourished in South Korea and effectively became the country’s third national sport behind football and baseball. OG Blizzard were cool with seeing their game played like this. Their Activision overlords were the ones who sued the fuck out of the Korean Esports Association (KeSPA) over broadcasting rights.

StarCraft II had LAN support gutted out not due to piracy concerns, but to effectively prevent unlicensed esports. This and their legal dispute with KeSPA is largely why none of the big Proleague teams ended up playing the sequel until almost three years after release.

WCS killed the grassroots scene that developed around SC2 in the first two years of the game’s release. The exclusivity deals, existence in only three regions (Europe, NA and South Korea) broadcasting embargoes, and how quickly Blizzard forced the idea upon stakeholders in a swift attempt to copy Riot Games made Ongamenet nope out of the scene, caused irreversible damage to Major League Gaming as a brand and effectively bankrupted the North American Star League. Not to mention that until region locking was actually introduced three years later, no non-Korean player won a SC2 major tournament between 2013 and 2015. BlizzCon only had two non-Korean players qualify in 2013 (Naniwa) and 2015 (Lilbow) respectively during that time too.

Anybody who saw what happened with WCS could see the Overwatch League failing from a mile off.
