Clbull,

Can’t bring back someone who died of natural causes, unfortunately 😔

Maybe the Super Dragon Balls could.

“Here’s my immediate notice” 😂😂😂

Clbull,

At that point I’d need to call a fuckin hearse.

I have plenty of stories from when I used to work in purchase ledger and customer service.

Klick2Contact is the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever used. Imagine a CRM that randomly crashes and loses your tickets, and where it can take several minutes to assign an email to yourself. Now imagine having to use software that bad whilst logging cases on a separate CRM (because K2C wasn’t fit for purpose) and answering emails within a 10 minute SLA.

Best I used in terms of call centre software was Salesforce. Ironically it’s not specifically designed as a CRM.

Part of the reason I got fired from my old call centre job was trying to deal with K2C.

Worst enterprise level accountancy software I used was probably a tie between JD Edwards and OpenAccounts. Best accounting software was definitely Xero.

Suyu 😂😂😂😂

It’s like they’re begging Nintendo to sic private investigators and a whole centurion of highly paid lawyers on them.

UK Trial: Pornhub's Chatbot Halts Millions from Accessing Child Abuse Content (www.wired.com)

A trial program conducted by Pornhub in collaboration with UK-based child protection organizations aimed to deter users from searching for child abuse material (CSAM) on its website. Whenever CSAM-related terms were searched, a warning message and a chatbot appeared, directing users to support services. The trial reported a...

Clbull,

IIRC Xhamster started doing this a few years ago, minus the AI chatbot.

Clbull,

Depends on the jurisdiction. Indecent illustrations and ‘pseudo photographs’ depicting minors are definitely illegal in the UK (Coroners and Justice Act 2009.) Several US states are also updating their laws to clamp down on this too.

I’m also aware that it’s illegal in Switzerland because a certain infamous rule 34 artist fled his home country to evade justice for that very reason.

Clbull,

It’s surprising to see Aylo (formerly Mindgeek) coming out with the most ethical use of AI chatbots, especially when Google Gemini cannot even condemn pedophilia.

Based in the UK, work in accountancy.

Got my current job from an internal promotion/sideways move from Purchase Ledger to Commercial Finance. I was in the process of being made redundant before I got the promotion. Before that, I got my job through Reed (the agency.)

I’m not currently looking for jobs, but I’d honestly look on Indeed if I was seeking something. There are very few recruitment agencies I’d actually recommend, and those are: Red Recruitment, Robert Half, Reed and Ashley Rees Associates. A few agencies are on my shit-list but I won’t namedrop them.

LinkedIn to me is just 90% recruiter spam and 10% corporate boot-licking. It’s where you go when you want to post disingenuous motivational quotes about how great the working world is.

Clbull,

Nobody wants a war between NATO and Russia because in that scenario, everybody loses.

Russia wouldn’t win a ground conflict, but they’d sure-as-hell nuke the fuck out of every major city.

Clbull,

In terms of the more populous instances, I think Lemmy reminds me of old Reddit before the site went mainstream, minus the jailbait, incest-posting, rampant racism and other degenerate shit that Reddit used to be known for.

Fanfiction Community Rocked By Etsy Sellers Turning Their Work Into Bound Books (www.404media.co)

Etsy sellers are turning free fanfiction into printed and bound physical books, and listing them for sale on online marketplaces for more than $100 per book. It’s a problem that’s rattling the authors of those fanfics, as well as their fans and readers....

Clbull,

Not gonna lie, an attractively bound hardcover copy of My Immortal would be a hilarious gag present.

Clbull,

Isn’t Java known for spitting out random errors?

Clbull,

Their R&D costs seem alarmingly high, when the most ‘innovative’ things we’ve seen come out of Reddit in recent years have been canned features like their own cryptocurrency and RPAN.

Other than that and Spez being paid a buttload in stock options…

EBITDA is used moreso in internal quarterly and monthly management accounts, which don’t follow the exact same structure as an annual report which companies have to publish annually by law and follow GAAP and IFRS guidelinss when preparing.

Clbull,

Lycos isn’t even a particularly bad search engine. It’s just been overshadowed by bigger players like Google, Bing, Baidu, DDG, Yandex, etc. I imagine that their low traffic helps to lower their operating costs a lot.

Here’s what I’d do:

  1. VIP posts which you have to subscribe to a user to view. Reddit takes a cut of the subscription fee. With the sheer amount of OnlyFans models who astroturf the fuck out of the NSFW subs, it feels beyond stupid that Spez isn’t cutting out the middle man and competing with the likes of OF, Fansly, Patreon and Subscribestar.
  2. Add more incentives to subscribe to Reddit Premium, i.e. enhanced search functionality, the ability to time travel back to the frontpage from a previous date.
  3. Improve the official Reddit app to the point where it’s on-par with previous third party offerings.
  4. Bring back RPAN as a fully-fledged livestreaming platform with fewer restrictions. Introduce ads (Premium users get ad-free viewing) and revenue sharing for partnered creators.
  5. Change content and moderator guidelines to curb power users.
  6. Pivot towards short-form video content as a separate section of the site to compete with the likes of TikTok.
Clbull,

That’s not exactly what I meant. Aside from a decent Trekkie presence, I don’t think we’ve seen smaller Reddit communities leave for Lemmy.

At what age do you think is too old to be living with parents?

Background+rant: I’m in my early to mid-20s and still living at home with my dad. I’m not a NEET and am employed at a normal office job. I enjoy the comfort of my home. I like being with family (and I believe they feel blessed to have their kid at home longer). I like not having to pay rent. However, I also keep feeling some...

Clbull,

I’m in a similar situation and know the feeling.

Part of the problem is that I live in Bristol. My city is in the midst of a housing crisis and is currently the second most expensive place in the UK behind London to live in. Renting a small studio or one bedroom flat can cost between £1000 - £1400 a month depending on how central you wish to live and good luck actually getting a reply from a property agent. That income isn’t going towards a useful asset, and the idea of paying over half to two-thirds of my take home pay on a filthy-rich parasite landlord’s mortgage for a tiny apartment makes the idea of home ownership a pipe dream. That’s if I could even pass the credit checks necessary. I don’t have debts, CCJs or a CIFAS marker to worry about. My only point of failure is that I don’t earn enough to be able to pay the exorbitant rents in my city.

Being a single man in your twenties (I’m in my early thirties so that’s even worse) who can’t rent or buy your own home is a social death sentence. Society negatively judges you for it and I’m annoyed to see people still pretend it’s no big deal.

I am by no means a NEET. I work full time and am on a £30k salary. My problem is that I am undateably unattractive and have had a lot of problems with dating for various reasons. This basically means I do not have the advantages of having a partner to live with nor access to joint loans which would nearly double our purchasing power. My living situation certainly doesn’t help and it’s a vicious cycle.

The fact that reality TV shows like “Young Dumb and Living Off Mum” have been made to effectively ridicule our generation and paint us as lazy troglodytes should tell you what societal attitudes are like.
