What else do you want? Your system is rigged against progressives. The electoral college gives more weight to smaller states, which are predominantly Republicans.

The issue is not the tech, it’s how it is developed and tested, and the terrible track record of the mega corpos.

I’d rather have a good trip every few weeks with a renewed sense of perspective than taking pills everyday that makes me less me.

I don’t stigmatize people for taking pills, I hate that we are banning substances that are beneficial to humans because it makes them trip a little.

I am on antidepressants and I’d much rather take psychedelics every other weeks than taking two different pills everyday for the years to come with a multitude of terrible side effects.

There is a lot of promising researchs done with psychedelics, but because of old fucks we’re criminals if we literally grow mushrooms.

The way antidepressants are used today is so that we can keep being a cog in the machine.

So my issue with all this is that antidepressants just numb the symptoms, not fix the root cause of the problem. So if at least part of the solution was fun, then it wouldn’t be so bad.

But instead, we have antidepressants that makes us productive enough to still work, but it fucks up your gut, your mind, your sexuality and your self-confidence, so that you can make money for someone else.

I feel me when I am human, not a fucking drone 6 months away from homelessness.

The pills make me feel like a drone, but the alternative is destitution.

These companies have more revenue than some countries, this is mental and shouldn’t happen.

I am looking for a basic coding AI. I don’t want to create a complex software, just something to get me started by example. So bash script level is good enough for me.

I’m talking about really basic stuff. AI is great as an entry point to a new language.

For example, in python, finding out the current folder in which the script is running or in preact, how to use simple hooks.

It’s fast, and once I know the name of the functions used, I can look up the documentation I need to and find appropriate tutorials and examples.

You already have a skillset that you can transform into something else, and you seems to have a lot of money stowed away, so you can take a risk to transform that skillset. Push come to shove, you can simply go back to your current domain.

But transforming a skillset is indeed hard.

This is weird because in my region, this is the first time in, I don’t know how many years, that hardware roles are more in demand than firmware roles.

I guess it’s a new cycle of product development that started this year.

I understand the feeling. Are you tired of the field overall or just the hardware part of it?

I did QA for 5 years, which I’m grateful for but sucks a bunch. I tried to do pure software dev, it’s not for me. Then I came back to firmware, but since I wasn’t in the game for almost 7 years, I had to re-learn and live with the imposter syndrome for a while. I kinda kept coding during these years, but I had to convince others I could code.

Not sure where I am going with this. I understand how you feel, and I hope you’ll find something that is better for you.

Feeling stuck is not fun.

I agree with you. I would rather see the money back in the community instead of making rich people richer.

At one point in the US history, the highest marginal tax rate was 90%. It makes sense. If you don’t want to get taxed, just recirculate the money.

But at one point, the rich captured the politicians and different state machines and lowered their tax, created a bunch of loopholes, and just fucked everyone over.

So I’m for a wealth tax. And one fucking thing that should change is that a cash loan backed by assets should be taxed as income.
