Cyber,

Favourite book for me has to be The Colour of Magic… and as for a character, I loved the background of Death and HOW HE TALKED… along with his side stories, like taking a holiday…

Oh, and I’ve not seen anyone mention Luggage… that was a great character too

Cyber,

Considering that a LOT of gas in the UK came here by boat from the middle east, then, yes, this is actually a good thing.

Don’t get me wrong, we need to get to NetZero, but the plastic parts on your electric car are made from oil…

Cyber,

Oh wow… you’ve just picked 2 of my favourite artists & albums. 🙂

Cyber,

As long as the car can determine that the driver’s eyes are open because they’re paying attention to the road, not watching a film on their phone, perched on the dash…

Cyber,

+1 for syncthing

I’ve tried Nextcloud, OpenMediaVault, rsync over SSH and just keep coming back to syncthing.

Cyber,

Replaced the batteries?

I’m in the process of topping up the water in mine intending to refresh them… but you’ve made me think… I need to check them for deadshorts / opencircuit

And I thought you’d burnt a horrible groove in your finger!

Cyber,

Just for balance, I use Firefox to show HA dashboards on a Linux PC and an Android tablet and don’t have any issues, so it must be a combination of things, rather than Firefox itself…

Cyber,

For the electric monitoring, have a look at OpenEnergyMonitor I have a simple system that monitors grid + solarPV which has worked well for ~8 years…

They have a 6-leg unit (not used it myself) which might be useful for you…

Cyber,

As an All-In-One, I use Parted Magic

It costs money, but I use it for work, so the money is totally worth it, just for the GUI environment.

But, for most things, all I ever need is gparted, smartctl / smartmon and maybe grub - I believe all that’s on Arch ISO

Oh, and CloneZilla…

Cyber,

Just to say, mine seems ok after closing and reopening the app… but I’ll check again later.

Cyber,

I used Arch ARM on a couple of Pi W, but support ended for them (fair enough), so had to move those over to Raspberry Pi OS to continue using them.

But, everything else is running Arch… Pi W2, Pi3, and they’re all solid.

Cyber,

Never thought of this approach.

So, what is it transmitting? Text? Or some form of numerical data?

I mean, how do I start? 🙂

Cyber,

Great summary, thanks

Cyber,

TL;DR: do you actually need to change?

Some applications (ie databases) will keep as much data in RAM as they can, just for speed…

So, have you got to 80% gradually as you’ve been adding functionality, or has it always been there?
