Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden (www.theguardian.com)

Nearly three in five Americans wrongly believe the US is in an economic recession, and the majority blame the Biden administration, according to a Harris poll conducted exclusively for the Guardian. The survey found persistent pessimism about the economy as election day draws closer....

Danterious,

I made a post about this sometime ago about this split in expectations. People know that the economy is fine, actually great, for businesses they just don’t think its good for them.

Danterious,

I found this search engine that helps find non commercial sites. www.marginalia.nu

Might be useful for finding those kind of sites again.

I surveyed over 500 solarpunks, this is what they answered! (slrpnk.net)

Hi everyone! A bit over a month ago I made a survey about Solarpunk and shared it here. Now, I finally present you the findings of the survey! I am adding a few pics here for a preview and if you are interested, go check the link where there is a full description of the findings!!...

Danterious,

In a solarpunk future I’d hope we’d have the technology to have buildings that grow according to how they are used. That would be awesome.

Danterious,

These were interesting results. Thx for doing this.

Danterious,

Idk, I was just thinking flowers or fruit growing from the walls or maybe even furniture/utilities being a part of the building itself in such a way that depending on how you use them the shape changes over time I haven’t really thought that far ahead.

Danterious,

As an extra tidbit the link I put in the post shows that the USA and Australia are the only place where people who are centrist are more likely to accept authoritarianism than both left and right leaning voters.

Make of that what you will.

Danterious,

I’d go for a SearXNG instance, since its a meta search engine, its gonna work unless all other search engines shut down.

Also nice benefit of being FOSS and of no charge.

Danterious,

I just read your profile and can’t believe you guys have been on lemmy for 3 years. What made you guys join before lemmy got popular?

Danterious,

I mean sure but if you get hacked (which will eventually happen to someone if this is rolled out) just having the information stored in the first place becomes a risk. So I think it is better to not have it in the first place.

Danterious,

Original article if anyone wants to read it: www.axios.com/…/red-lobster-bankruptcy-filed

Also we should post the source along with the picture more often.

Danterious,

I am already using subscript so it should show up as smaller than the other text. But some clients treat it as a cross out.

Danterious,

Hey I started doing this recently and I am using a text expander to make it easier.

Edit: What it does is add a shortcut that automatically pastes the whole thing if you enter a shortcut phrase.

Edit:

I also liked this quote from it:

Most don’t offer their fellow citizens a vision of utopia, and don’t inspire them to build a better world. Instead, they teach people to be cynical and passive, apathetic and afraid, because there is no better world to build. Their goal is to persuade their own people to stay out of politics, and above all to convince them that there is no democratic alternative: Our state may be corrupt, but everyone else is corrupt too. You may not like our leader, but the others are worse. You may not like our society, but at least we are strong. The democratic world is weak, degenerate, divided, dying.

Danterious,

It is the exploitation that’s wrong. That goes for animals as well as plants. If we can avoid that then things would be a lot better

What is the Legal copyright on a Lemmy Post?

Most instances don’t have a specific copyright in their ToS, which is basically how copyright is handled on corporate social media (Meta/X/Reddit owns license rights to whatever you post on their platform when you click “Agree”). I’ve noticed some people including Copyright notices in posts (mostly to prevent AI use). Is...

Danterious,

Well first thing is that the license is a copyleft license so it is still allowed to be used, distributed, etc. the only real difference between this license and public domain (as far as I know) is me saying that I don’t want it being used for commercial purposes that’s it.

Also for me its more just a way for me to say fuck you to everything having to be commercialized so even if it doesn’t hold legal water I don’t care.

Danterious, (edited )

Ah well then I might try and find a license that doesn’t require attribution because I don’t care about that part. But the rest seem exactly what I’m going for.

Edit: grammar

Danterious,

I mean it is a common sentiment that has been measured:

web.archive.org/…/biden-trump-consumer-confidence…

Beyond that if you are insinuating that it is a coordinated campaign of people doing this, I mean yeah that’s probably true to some extent. But the reason why they are targeting that is because they know it is a weak point.

So posting an article showing that the cost of living is going down would make that kind of sentiment less justified.
