I know a lot of people for whom monogamy hasn’t turned out well, too. Lots of divorces and broken hearts. If you think of all the relationships that don’t work out, the ones that do are miracles.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

That’s probably a selection bias though. Most people might try opening up their relationship when there are already problems.

Yeah Uber is pretty common. People get dropped off.

Mr Inbetween. First season is gold.

The girl from tomorrow. I see it’s on Stan now.

Love is a four letter word.

Who’s this “we”? My city still has them.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

It’s not a true rhyme with either of them.

DavidDoesLemmy,

It’s likely the election won’t take place until next year.

It’s already 47% above 180k (including the Medicare levy), not to mention the GST on most goods and services. The rich pay the vast majority of the tax in this country, and raising tax rates risks pushing some of them to move overseas. (Which results in less taxes collected overall among other issues). It’s a fine balance. The real problem, as I see it, is companies and individuals who find ways to avoid paying taxes. We need to fix the loopholes.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

There’s also 6.5% payroll tax that we never see.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

Australia has one of the lowest top tax bracket ranges around. It makes sense to bump it from 180k to 200k.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

What makes you think 47% is not high enough?

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

Unless you live in one of the many countries that have good employment laws.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

There should be at least one women involved. I don’t think MMM is for me.

I personally agree with you, but the counter argument is that would make it much harder for 15yo kids to get a job. Most employers would prefer to hire someone a bit more mature if it cost the same. So allowing a lower minimum wage for teenagers evens the playing field a bit.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

Yep I agree it’s a problem

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

That seems very hot. We keep it at 18-20 degrees here.

DavidDoesLemmy,

Why would you want to move to the west coast? I assume you mean Perth or Fremantle. It’s so far from everything. East coast is much better. You’ve got Sydney and Melbourne and even Queensland. Tasmania is also nice if you don’t mind some cold winters.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

Unless you can get a job in mining. Then maybe West coast is a good option.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

OP doesn’t mention their country. What am I meant to assume? That they’re a stupid American?

"If you tell a lie big enough and tell it frequently enough, people will eventually come to believe it". What is an example of this happening today?

I would really rather that these were actual examples, and not conspiracy theories. We all have our own unsubstantiated ideas about what shadowy no-gooders are doing, but I’d rather hear about things that are actually happening.

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

Which election?

DavidDoesLemmy,
@DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone avatar

America is the greatest country in the world. Only those who haven’t travelled much would believe that.

You could always trademark colours. I know in the early naughties yellow pages had trademarked their yellow
