EatATaco,

Headline is misleading. The article notes that they arent necessarily withholding them permanently, but because they are going through the disciplinary process, and so currently not in good standing, they can’t get them at graduation.

EatATaco,

Yes, clearly, by pointing out the absurdity of shitting on America in a piece about the Netherlands, I’m saying that America is perfect. It’s always black and white; there’s no room for nuance.

EatATaco,

It’s only absurd if you don’t consider taxation of the rich a geopolitical issue.

If you had said something about billionaires across the world, this defense would hold some water. But it wasn’t, it was just mindless shitting on America. Couldn’t just talk about another country and it’s problems, without the knee-jerk claim that America is worse.

EatATaco,

Which is the country that by far has the most billionaires?

The US. You said it’s a worldwide issue. The US is the world now?

EatATaco,

Geopolitical issues only involve the US? Your pedantry makes no difference here.

EatATaco,

I didn’t realize the only two options were ‘only the U.S.’ or ‘every country in the world.’

Not that it is limited to this third option, but it should be very clear that there was at least one additional option: talking about Netherlands. You know, the country the article is about. But that would take actually critically thinking for a second.

Now, just because you blindly hate America and can’t, for a second, talk about another country without shitting on America too, that doesn’t mean I’m blindly patriotic. Again, the world’s not black and white. I understand that this is hard for you to grasp.

EatATaco,

I was, in fact, talking about both The Netherlands and the U.S.

So why on earth were you so confused that you thought “the only two options were ‘only the U.S.’ or ‘every country in the world.’” Neither of these two options includes the Netherlands.

Maybe this is why you seem to be the only one confused about what I’m talking about.

No one is confused about what you are talking about: we all know you can’t talk about the bad in any country (at least in the EU) without at least shitting on the US too. It’s just a lot of other people are just like you.

EatATaco,

If it’s hard for you to talk about anything other than shitting on the US, that sounds like you have an obsession problem.

EatATaco,

Therefore, it was a geopolitical issue.

So, billionaires not paying their fair share is just a US/Netherlands issue? If not, in your attempt to weasel out of what you said, you’re just confirming my point that you can’t talk about another country having bad shit without shitting on America.

Then that should be easy for you to prove.

lol. You said that everyone but me knew what you were talking about. . .but now when I assume what everyone else knows, I’m lying. Pretty safe to say your accusation is a confession. What’s good for the goose…

EatATaco,

Sure, I lied. Happy?

Now respond to the first part:

So, billionaires not paying their fair share is just a US/Netherlands issue? If not, in your attempt to weasel out of what you said, you’re just confirming my point that you can’t talk about another country having bad shit without shitting on America.

EatATaco, (edited )

It is an issue anywhere billionaires have to pay tax. Which is not “worldwide,” as you claimed.

Holy shit, is there nothing you won’t be pedantic about? lol. What a joke of an attempt to avoid the point.

However, I’m not interested in talking to people who tell blatant lies about me even if they admit it, especially when they claim their lie is now their point, implying that it is not, in fact, a lie.

Anything to avoid the actual point.

EatATaco,

Nah, it’s over. When backed into a corner, FlyingSquid always seems to just latch onto some point, regardless of how tangential it is to actual point, because they think it is a “winning” point, and then won’t let go. I wanted to see what would happen if I relented on that distraction and just admitted to their implication, so we could go back to the main point. Apparently it means they run from the debate.

Although, in retrospect, I wish I hadn’t agreed to their accusation of lying, and instead claimed it was just a rhetorical statement, which is more accurate, and that I (obviously) couldn’t prove it. That probably would have been a better test. Agreeing to their accusation of lying just gave them an easy out.

To be honest, I have no idea what that image means.

EatATaco,

If it’s an article about the us being shitty, and people point out the us is shitty, I wouldn’t say anything because that’s the topic. But it’s tired when it’s just every time anything is mentioned, someone here has to point out that the us is shitty.

Basically, you have it backwards. It’s not me constantly being defensive of the us, it’s everyone here constantly attacking it.

EatATaco,

Gotcha, thanks. Lol

EatATaco,

How does me pointing out that this knee jerk America hating has shit all to do with the article preclude me from working to make the us a better place?

Or are you like flying squid and you can’t fathom a world where some doesn’t join in a mindless circle jerk, so they just think the exact opposite?

EatATaco,

Lol wtf does Canada and Alaska have to do with anything? Holy shit that’s an insane post.

EatATaco,

Oh yes master, America is great and we should never talk I’ll of the land OF THE FREE

So you aren’t smart to get out of black and white thinking.

EatATaco,

So…nothing? Layering on more insanity doesn’t remove the previous insanity.

EatATaco,

Clear projection.

EatATaco,

OK I’ll go hide in a cave a forget a massive land mass does not exist

Is it possible for you to respond to what was said instead of the delusions you’ve created in your mind? At no point have I said anyone should forget about America. Again, you just aren’t smart enough to not thinking black and white: if I don’t shit on America with every chance I get, well, then, I must be blindly jingoistic! lol

EatATaco,

One quibble: it ain’t new. I’ve been accused of being a bot on /r/conspiracy for well over a decade.

But my response has long since been the same: does it matter? Whether I’m a bot has absolutely zero bearing on the truth of what I’m saying. Don’t get me wrong, we should definitely do something to curb botting, but I agree with you: if you find yourself using it as a reason to dismiss an argument you’re just relying on a garbage ad hominem.

EatATaco,

It also doesn’t make sense in the context because the question is not whether this was insider trading, but whether it shows a political bias by involving himself in the boycott.

EatATaco,

You already quoted it, anyone coming here can see that what you claim I said I didn’t. Screen capping it was entirely unnecessary. but good effort.
