Never tbh, only when I run into a crazy issue on a site. My go to us first diable ublock origin second is clear stuff. I haven’t had to do that in quite some time.

Am I missing something? This community is about cars, for car enthusiasts. I was a huge car enthusiast when I was a teen. I had a giant list of cars I wanted. No I couldn’t afford a new car, yes I got a hand me down shit box, but I loved it.

This is their hobby. For those of you down voting and talking about making them bus, or bike, you’re being negative about their hobby. Stop. Depending on where they live, they might not have that choice, or maybe they do bus or bike, but want a car too.

This community is for car enthusiasts.

Yes! It is a hobby for some people. I personally didn’t live in a family that could do that, but I went to school with families that could. And their parents were excited to share their hobby with their teen when they turned 16.

Was I jealous as hell? Yes! But some of those people were my friends, we played on the same sports teams, went to the same classes etc.

My dad was no different, we just did it with shit boxes. If these people want to buy expensive cars for their teens then so be it. Just means it gets sold on the used market eventually. Let me give another example, I think the concept of low riders is dumb. I’m not ever going to a show for them. The culture doesn’t make sense to me. But I still respect it. Do the same friend.

Don’t be a gatekeeper.

I’ve just started using Fedora recently and have been pretty impressed but I also ran into some of these annoying issues to start with. I wrote a super quick and dirty first run script to automate the things I use but maybe others will find it useful. I just added it to my GitHub if anyone wants to use it as well. I am not responsible if it wrecks your system.

K… This is just not true. Plenty of AAA games run well on the steam deck. Currently installed on mine, RDR2, cyberpunk 2077, horizon zero dawn, Forza horizon, uncharted legacy of thieves, the last of us, and for funsies I just started another fallout 4 playthrough. I’m sure others have lots of other AAA games they play on their deck.

If it’s the exclusives you’re missing, like Gran Turismo or something, I think that’s a different argument.

I mean, the nuance you describe is notable. But I sit on the couch, using controllers and play the same games you would on ps or Xbox. Both of which run variants of Linux/windows.

It appears the nuance is no longer important.

The thing I’m struggling with is finding beginner videos for ondsel. The ui is super different, so freecad videos don’t help much. Any suggestions?

You may not realize it but you’re kind of making my point. You have prior experience. An Ondsel getting started video is really needed. Especially since they want to charge for it.

I didn’t realize pip and venv didn’t work… that’s a pretty big deal breaker for a lot of people, myself included.

I just bought a Thinkpad x1 carbon preloaded with Fedora and it’s pretty fantastic.

So far I love it. I bought it brand new from Lenovo and you could pick from I think 3 or 4 distros. I picked fedora, which it came with 38. When I first booted up it had a bios update which honestly surprised me that they would bother. Then upgraded to 40 through the fedora upgrade path. All painless.

I was fully prepared to make a windows live USB just to flash the bios/firmware.
