Euphorazine,

I do think it’s important to mention that the jump to senior is largely an accumulation of domain knowledge,

I feel that. I’m a senior dev on my team of about 7 software engineers, but I often feel like I’d just be a junior somewhere else. Worst case scenario is I can add to my resume that I helped convert a vb6 shop to a c# shop, not sure what that’s worth though xD

Euphorazine,

I dunno, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t call it a vacuum. I know people who own Hoover’s and they still call it their vacuum.

Euphorazine,

Why post a stack exchange from 2008?

Euphorazine,

An explanation like that at the start would have been helpful. I was reading the page and just didn’t understand. Was thinking at first it was to raise awareness of an unanswered question. Couldn’t figure it out so I asked.

Euphorazine,

Are you under the impression anyone without the backing of the DNC has a chance in the primaries? Anyone who wanted to challenge Biden should have been posturing long ago. Your community of 15,000 people who support someone else aren’t going to overcome the swath of voters who only get the news from CNN.

You didn’t even name who his replacement should be in your own post.

Euphorazine,

On the website on a desktop, the shorts section has an X on the top right of its section. That should hide shorts for a few days. It says 30 days but I’m not convinced.

You can click the options on any video to say you aren’t interested in that video or that channel.

You can delete videos from your watch history if your algorithm gets tainted. Like my nephew was watching a bunch of train videos on my TV. So algo started sending me all these train recommendations. I just deleted them from my watch history and haven’t seen a train video since.

Euphorazine,

I swear Jagex gets bought out every two years

Euphorazine,

The right puts up a razor wire fence along a border town, the left demands they take it down, meanwhile 2 miles upriver is a passable point with no fence at all, yet the show must go on.

Euphorazine,

I live in an 800sqft home by myself. 1 bed, 1 bath. I have plenty of space.

Euphorazine,

No more than three cash bonds maybe posted per year by any individual, corporation, organization, charity, nonprofit corporation, or group in any jurisdiction

So this bill kills bondsman in general , not charities paying for people’s bond. Also seems really easy to get around, it’s like $50 to spin up an LLC.

Euphorazine,

I have a pixel 8 that doesn’t have any issues, but I can read the title that says Google’s quality control is shit. So I can understand my phone is okay and other people have problems. Even if I bought 100 pixels, my sample size would still be too small to dismiss other people’s claims.

Funnily enough, this is my first comment I’ve made about how my pixel is fine. So now I’m part of the problem :3

Euphorazine,

Although I haven’t flown since the Real ID mandates, I’ve shown up to an airport without my ID and was able to board. There was some additional screening. Like if you’ve ever tried to do a hard credit pull online and they ask you questions like “which of the following vehicles did you own three years ago” style questions.

It was a pain but I made it.

Euphorazine,

Guess not. Looks like it’s now scheduled to May 2025

Euphorazine,

I don’t know the value in a decentralized IP rights system. If the key holder gets phished, you can lose your rights to a TV series you’ve been working on. (Like Seth Greene)

He wouldn’t have lost it and had to pay back the ransom in a traditional contract. Having a contract centralized and enforced by the legal system has many perks and I can’t ever see how a decentralized rights platform can enforce itself.

Euphorazine,

That’s not a perfect use case for it. That’s a central authority (venue) selling tickets to anyone who wants to buy them. But instead of using a local database and approving transfers from person to person and losing the ability to reverse transactions due to fraud, it’s hosted in the wild west of crypto.

There’s nothing stopping a venue from offering your perfect use case in a centralized system, but they outsource it to Ticketmaster (namely because Ticketmaster owns like 80% of music venues or something) so they don’t have to deal with it.

Your scenario outsources it to the block chain, who will charge gas for the transactions instead of ticketmaster charging fees.

Euphorazine,

George Floyd using a fake $20 bill, being an ex convict, and resisting placement in the cruiser, doesn’t mean the cops can just kill him in the street.

Maybe if he didn’t have a drug history, having someone kneel on his neck for 10-15 minutes wouldn’t lead to his death, but that doesn’t excuse using a dangerous hold for an extended period of time.

Excessive force and cop egos are a big problem in our existing police force.

Euphorazine,

“The Sunshine Protection Act”, oh is this some bill against pollution or something. “This bill makes daylight savings permanent.”

Oh fuck off, that’s too grandiose of a name for that. I mean I want that, but you aren’t protecting sunshine …

Euphorazine,

So like, in January, the sun sets at say around 5:15pm. With DST active, it would set at 6:15pm.

So there is more daylight after work or school gets out for most people.

Either way, the time change seems like it’s not useful in today’s age, so we should pick one.

Euphorazine,

It’s useful for habits, communication, and planning. What time do banks close, Usually 5pm. When’s lunch rush hour, between 11am and 1pm. When do events like sports or primetime television or the local bowling league start, maybe 6-7pm. When do kids go to school, 7am.

You have all these references in your head about when people go about their day. Phrases like “man, the busy season started and I ended up working until 10pm last night” don’t need clarification that you worked about 5 hours over.

If you ever left your native timezone, you can just look at your phone or a local clock and make assumptions about the world around you. If the clock reads 7pm, you know you still have time to hit a restaurant. Move two timezones east, and now 7pm means you don’t have time.

Euphorazine,

Is this saying that let’s say I have an iron outpost and a copper outpost and two trains set to any item. Let’s say the copper outpost has a higher priority.

If one train is unloading iron and the copper train has left the copper outpost, the iron train would decide to go to the copper outpost? And if copper fully unloaded by then, it would go to the iron outpost?

Basically, the ability to have generic trains that just move stuff without a dedicated line?

Euphorazine,

Labor is an expense, so technically it’s a tax write-off because it’s an expense. Cancelling the development didn’t make a new event to write off.

Euphorazine,

Ah, the “I am aware I’m doing something wrong, but I’m doing it anyways” button.

Euphorazine,

Yeah, think of the property values. Move all the homeless a few blocks away and lower their property values until a developer buys up the whole block and then push them somewhere else. Rinse and repeat.

Euphorazine,

There was demand, and then you see a sticker that says $15,000 dealership markup and you walked away.
