Norway just gave permission to a mining company to dump their waste into the Førde fjord. What can I do about this?

Two days ago, there was a post over at /c/WorldNews that linked an article from the Guardian about Norway granting permission to private mining company Nordic Mining to dispose of their waste into the Førde fjord. I left a comment asking how can I, an American with no power what so ever, do to stop this. As of writing this, I...

FiskFisk33,

from the article:

The court ordered Friends of the Earth Norway and Nature and Youth, the two environmental organisations who brought the case, to pay legal costs of about £110,000. They could still take the case to the court of appeal, but say their resources are currently too diminished to continue the fight, though they are hoping for external support.

Giving them money is probably your best bet

I hate the fatty feeling of moistened hand skin. The occasional crack is annoying but I would never switch it for moisturizing.

Elon Musk seen as working counter to U.S. interests in dealings with Russia, China (youtu.be)

Elon Musk's financial interests put him in a position of having his own personal foreign policy, but new reporting shows that whether it's manufacturing in China or the Starlink network being used in Ukraine, Musk’s decisions can run counter to stated US policy.

FiskFisk33,

…sometimes, absolutely!

Youtube is a video hosting platform, just saying a piece of news is hosted on youtube says exactly nothing about it’s credibility.

Youtube did not create this video, if you want to say anything useful about its validity you’ll have to be a bit more specific about the actual video itself or it’s creators.

But I guess cheap pot shots make for easier upvotes.

Trump says he will surrender Thursday on Georgia charges tied to efforts to overturn 2020 election (apnews.com)

It will be Trump’s fourth arrest since April, when he became the first former president in U.S. history to face indictment. Since then, Trump, who remains the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, has had what has seemed like an endless procession of bookings and arraignments in jurisdictions across the...

FiskFisk33,

I would argue for the opposite, can we work to treat low risk, non violent offenders with more respect instead?

FiskFisk33,

this, the punishment should be AFTER the hearings, not before.

FiskFisk33,

let me put it this way, let’s not rough anyone up just for the fun of it. Why use force if they are submitting themselves freely, no matter the crime?
If they have commited horrible crimes, aren’t the punishment supposed to come after the hearings, not before?

FiskFisk33,

He did, but I don’t agree with him.

Why do people still recommend Thinkpads for Linux when there are Linux-oriented manufacturers now?

I’ve noticed in the Linux community whenever someone asks for a recommendation on a laptop that runs Linux the answer is always “Get a Thinkpad” yet Lenovo doesn’t seem to be a big Linux contributor or ally. There’s also at least six Linux/FOSS-oriented computer manufacturers now:...

FiskFisk33,

FiskFisk33,

Thats not really what that ruling was, in the case the AI created, and if i remember correctly also published, the work with no human intervention, making it hard to apply to pretty much any normal ai generated content.
