It’s true that this is how most consumers act. It’s dumb, but iirc it’s factually correct.
If you take a brand name shirt, remove the logo in a way that is visually perfect, and sell them side-by-side, then the logo shirt will outsell the non-logo shirt. Or so I’ve heard.
Absolutely, a ten year old computer today is still capable of doing pretty much everything that most people use computers for. It’s not like the old days when every few years a new tier of computer would come out that made older devices no longer capable of doing what people wanted.
Replacing the spinning disk hard drive with an ssd will give you a significant increase in battery life. And it’ll also make the machine wildly faster on all tasks that aren’t cpu intensive
I agreed with op, then i read your astute response and now I don’t know which position is correct.
Thinking it through as i type… If you photoshopped an image of Tom Hanks giving a thumbs up to your product, that would clearly be illegal, but if you hired an exact flawless lookalike impersonator of Tom Hanks and had him pose for a picture with a thumbs up to your product, would that be illegal? I think it might still be illegal, because you purposely hired a lookalike impersonator to gain the benefit of Tom Hanks’ brand.
I think the law on AI should match what the law says about impersonators. If hiring an indistinguishable celebrity impersonator to use in media is legal, then ai soundalikes should be legal too, and vice versa.
As the actual headline itself says, this is a niche. The editorialized lemmy headline makes it sound like much more than that. Dumb phones still exist, but not many people choose to buy them

They say it’s a picture of atoms, but what are the atoms: the glowing yellow balls or the entire meatball including the darker red? If it’s the meatballs, then why do some have apparently two nuclei?...
Atoms are almost entirely empty space. And electrons themselves don’t really occupy a specific dot in space, they’re more of a blur that fuzzes out in a “large” region of space around the nucleus. So what’s shown here is most likely a visualization of the area that the electrons occupy.
But I’m no physicist and i didn’t read the article, so take this with a big grain of salt
EDIT
Another person here said the round things are actually the nuclei, and they sound like they know what they’re talking about. So while the informational stuff i said is right, it might not actually be a description of the image we’re looking at
Edit: A few people have interpreted the title as serious, so I wanna clarify that it was meant as a sarcastic joke about how little sense the neurotypical world makes to me, but it is still legitimately me asking for help understanding said neurotypical world....
Your friend is at least partially misinforming you. It’s fine to write k instead of ok in almost all situations. But either of them can be rude if the other person would expect more emotive words. For example here’s when k is fine:
Them: Bring my pen when you come into the other room
You: k
And here’s where k is not fine:
Them: Wanna go grab some drinks tonight at 8?
You: k
That’s rude. They would want to hear you actually be interested in their invitation. Like saying “great” or “I’m in” or whatever.
Yay, glad I could help! Yeah essentially if they’re asking something that might have an emotional aspect to it then they want to hear more than just k.
People can agree to go to an event but have very different feelings about doing it. Some people will be extremely stoked about going, some will be happy about it, some will be like meh its better than sitting at home, some people won’t want to go but decide to anyway because they want to be nice, some may really not want to go but decide to go anyway out of a sense of obligation. The particular words you reply with express your interest level to some degree. A plain “k” will be interpreted as a meh at best.
Ideally people want to have a general sense of how you’re feeling at all times. Not like in a disruptive way of always making announcements, but through things like the particular words you choose and facial expressions and body language etc.
That sounds hard. But it seems like you’ve got a good understanding of yourself, and that’s huge! It’s clear that you’ve put a ton of work into all this and have achieved real accomplishments. I give you a massive virtual high five!!!
I would bet the pot might be useful in specific situations, like if it’s used mostly to be tipped over at its original location without having to be carried anywhere first

Why are neurotypicals in charge of making up the social rules? They're not even very good at it.
