@GreyLinux@fosstodon.org

I'm really into electronics, Linux, opensource, and tinkering.
I love my SteamDeck ! It's insane how good it is.

I'm really enjoying several sub genres of Rock music at the moment, but honestly I like all music.

I absolutely love Tattoos, currently I have a full sleeve and mostly a full back in Japanese style.

And I'm out. It was fun chatting with @mala. Maybe next time more people will join us. 😉

@mike @mala that's a shame I missed the chat , even though we are in polar opposite time zones I would have joined for a quick chat, I've not been on fosstodon for a while to catch up with what's going on. It's been too hectic lately. Hope your well otherwise mike .

Can anyone recommend something similar to cockpit for preferably as TUI or CLI option?

As in a way to monitor my server easily with one interface!

The smart home madness continues. Having sensors and data about every aspect of your home is both awesome and overwhelming. Anyone have suggestions for good Home Assistant cards or layouts to help fix this mess?

@mattferrell hey Matt you should have hashtagged your and then users of home assistant, on mastodon could help.

In the latest episode of Self-Hosted, @balloob talks about the newest developments in our Year of the Voice, the recent removal of the Mazda Connected Services integration, and the results of the security audit we hired Cure53 to perform: https://selfhosted.show/108

@homeassistant @balloob I'm really excited now , its a seriously good podcast, but talking about home assistant really tops it off.

Like many of you, we are very excited about the Raspberry Pi 5 and will work hard to add support for it to Home Assistant OS. It's a major task we want to get right, so we expect a stable release to come out at the end of 2023/early 2024. Find out more:

@homeassistant well done Home assistant team , your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. When the pi 5 gets a stable release, I'll be returning to HAOS, after several years from running in a docker container.

Thank you for all your efforts.

I can't decide between or for my Intel NUC server. I only host containers running really , like and . I'm still learning about both OS's really and I know both come with a learning curve, one steeper than the other. But I really can't decide.

Any advice ......?

I had already taken a superficial look at macOS, a year ago, but now, I spent 30 days with it, as my main OS, on an M1 MacBook Pro.

And boy am I glad this is over, and glad to be back on !

Here are my conclusions about the hardware, the software, and the general experience of using a Mac as a Linux user:

If you’re using social networks to find news about the things you’re interested in (yes, that includes Mastodon), it’s time to stop and use something that was actually made for that: RSS!

So I made a quick video about this old tech, and how it’s still the absolute best way of curating what you read, watch, receive, or listen to:
