Dark matter IS A THING. At least there is some thing out there that interacts weakly with the elctroweak force and interacts normally with gravity. We have plenty of evidence of it EXISTING. The problem of dark matter is we don’t know what it is… But sure as hell there is something. See the Bullet cluster if you don’t believe me. And if you are a bit physics savvy, you can understand that it’s evidence is imprinted in the CMB. We just don’t know what it is.
I want to disagree. Like I get that installing arch maybe difficult for someone not familiar with the Linux environment, once you install it up and make it sweet looking, for daily use, it’s generally cool. A non tech savvy person is anyways going to be using the browser and office suite mostly, so I install Firefox with uBlock and install Libre office. I also install flatpak and packagekit and they can wasily install software from there, I recommend them to use flathub mostly and I have had only one of my friends machine borked because they read a little bit stuff online and installed stuff from the aur. And the aur borking a system is rare too.
The only prerequisite to giving new users an arch install is that you are there for support.
I’m working on a some materials for a class wherein I’ll be teaching some young, wide-eyed Windows nerds about Linux and we’re including a section we’re calling “foot guns”. Basically it’s ways you might shoot yourself in the foot while meddling with your newfound Linux powers....
What the fuck is local low? I don’t understand. Local is Billy G’s jizz… I get that… And Roaming is for poor plebs. But why LocalLow? Is it like cache? But I have seens games saving their save files there. I don’t understand
Sorry for hijacking this beautiful conversation you talented gentlemen are having, but can help me out?
I wanted to learn electronic music creation. I learnt very briefly how fl studio works, and then got busy due to my workload. Now I want to give it a go again. I heard llms is good for Linux, but I don’t understand how to get various instrument samples like fl studio. How do I set it all up? Can you point me to any good resources. I am also not committed to lmms and am open to suggestions.
How can you assume that? There is no data which supports the absence of a creator. As long as the initial cause is not determined it’s all hypothetical. It’s like arguing between Copenhagen interpretation and Many worlds. All arguments are moot without data.
What possible, fundamental, misunderstanding of the nature of the universe could make current academics look like flat earthers?

Is there a specific religious term for the belief "God exists and he is evil"?
I am not an atheist, I genuinely believe that God exists and he is evil, like a toddler who fries little ants with a lens.
