Since the radius of the circles is one unit, I first calculated the base area on each as two circles per tile, and there are 16 tiles, so 32 * pi. The added pointy connector bits are 2 * 2 - pi, and there are 23 total, so that is 23 * (4 - pi). So the total is 92 - 9 * pi, or about 63.73.
