the workshop across from my old one, which is a mirror image, has just hit marketplace at $200 less per month than I was paying a year ago, and I was paying $400 a month less than they advertised it for 3yrs ago. Commercial property is a massive scam.

    looking at flights to Cairns for a thing and hilariously the way to get there from the Sunshine Coast is via either Sydney or Melbourne. The travel time is measured in days. Normal country.

    @ThermiteBeGiants thinking about this, not a bad option actually

    @ThermiteBeGiants just looking at the pics, pretty decent and I do love a train trip. This could be the answer, thanks!

    Kels_316,
    @Kels_316@aus.social avatar

    @timrichards @ThermiteBeGiants the problem I discovered after deciding this was a good plan is that there are basically no railbeds available unless you book about 6 weeks out, and even then it's sketchy. This was the same problem I had in Melb trying to book a sleeper to Sydney for work travel.

    Kels_316,
    @Kels_316@aus.social avatar

    @allrite @timrichards @ThermiteBeGiants imagine taking an 18hr overnight train trip in a normal seat? There are always tons of availability for these, so fuck a lot of them off and make more sleepers.

    Kels_316,
    @Kels_316@aus.social avatar

    @ThermiteBeGiants @allrite @timrichards for sure, and the beauty of rail is you can add a bunch of cars where they are needed and remove them where they aren't. How many people leaving from Brisbane and going to Cairns want an economy seat? Not many, I wager.

    Rain has halted play for the day. Can’t say I’m disappointed but it does mean having to come back another day, which sucks.

    rare log in to linkedin to stalk a profile and lol what does adding the "open to work" twibbon mean? It feels a lot like "get me the fuck out of here" but openly saying it where your current employer can hear you?

    a fun thing to do is to spend hours trying to work out what an organisation really means when they say "accurate" - what level of precision and what data?

    Its even more fun when everyone just says "accurate" and assumes they all mean the same thing but no one has ever given any thought to what they actually mean.

    Kels_316,
    @Kels_316@aus.social avatar

    you need accurate information to make accurate decisions and these things are very important to us, in fact they define our entire approach to the conduct of our work.

    No, we've never decided what "accurate" means in those contexts.

    @jpm yes that's very helpful

    @ausfestivus too many people get away with big hand-wavy speak in their professional lives. I propose a military force that sends black helicopters and troops to any workplace that does this.

    @Kels_316@aus.social avatar

    @jpm @ausfestivus all these are readily found in relevant standards.
