So… I think this is a statement of home is never the same as you remember it and that ocean charts that used to use small sea creatures are nothing compared to the new landmarks of the giant garbage patch.
People, the regular mud sitting kind, would absolutely love universal healthcare, guaranteed pay, personal freedoms, and more. But for them it’s just a Quality of Life improvement they want. It’s not for society it’s for them. Phrase it like that and you have mass agreement.
The people with actual power and influence and those that follow their every word. Yeah far less interested cause they already have those things for themselves and it might eat into their life they think to give it to others.
People are selfish. Very few forward thinking social caring. But people will agree on a good thing, we just can’t get it past the people with different motives.
Yeah. I wonder if he knows how much smaller the group of people that see themselves “in the economy” is.
They are the people that will pay him so he might not notice or care but the people being helped by a stagnant ok economy doing business as usual is getting smaller by the year.
Wow. Such a martyr. Willing to stay at home forever because they have been told individual cars have an impact towards climate change that you don’t believe in.
People would rather the world burn than be inconvenienced even a little.
There is a science fiction story I love but can never find.
It was about a society that was deep into climate change. Humans lived in giant concrete bunkers and never went outside. The oceans and land was fucked but we managed optimize it all to keep living. Farm the ocean for plankton for food and oxygen. Set a limit on how many humans we could have and how much food, water and activity you could do in a day to preserve resources.
And one man had managed to save a small patch of grass at the cost of a little bit of his own water. Until it was discovered and deemed an unoptimized flaw and burned.
I think of that story when I think of humans surviving climate change a lot. I think about it whenever I think I would like to have kids.
Ahhh no… We can habitat space. We really really can’t live there.
We can’t really give birth or develop in space, gravity unlike ours will eventually deteriorate our bodies, even on Mars you will go blind and start developing clots before too long just from the slightly lower gravity. And that’s nothing of the radiation we are blocked from here on Earth.
The list is long and bad. We are adaptable but mostly on Earth adaptable. Able to survive climates and regions not everything ever. We can probably eventually figure out space but we can never just live there.
So when we destroy the planet we might really just take ourselves out too.
Your example was a generic from science fiction vague statement about a shielded rotating space station.
You have no experience or expertise to back up your statement.
It ignores the extra damage a large space station takes from micro asteroids by being a larger target. It ignores fuel costs of moving something that large into orbit. It ignores food and oxygen limitations on populace. It ignores low gravity birth issues. Radiation issues. Issues of diseases, resources collection and management.
You made a vague uneducated guess of an idea and demanded it be the requirement of others to prove you wrong.
You took the same argument style of a maga conspiracy conservative.
That’s a fun thing to point out. The rules of 3 especially so, but it’s also using specific examples and lacking to see the complexity of of our ability to communicate and all the other words we have.
Androgynous, tomboy, femboy / twilight, murky, dim / fungus / Ying -Yang is cheating / spirit, form, will / limbo, underworld, cosmos, time / etc…
And even in rules, in Buddhism you have the 8 fold path, the 10 commandments, heck the 613 laws of God in Judaism.
Just don’t be going all “The Number 23” on us just cause it’s easy to find solution confirming biases in common numbers.
We put a large box over the middle east and left a vial of radioactive material in there.
Now either Israel ignored it and freaked out about the box like everyone else or they immediately used it to make bombs and eradicate their neighbors out of view.
My favorite self made up conspiracy of the moon is:
As we all know the moon is moving away from the earth slowly each year but that means it was once much closer perhaps so close even that it rolled along the surface of early earth, pushing down on creatures that were lazy and didn’t get out of the way into the ground giving us fossils.
When the dinosaurs disappeared it wasn’t from an apocalypse they just got tired of being squished and dino capitalism and decided to grab onto the other side of the moon as it rolled by and are now stuck up there.
And that’s why the government won’t let us go to the moon. Because they don’t want us to meet our dino comrades.
It’s been really hot lately and if you haven’t tried it, it’s shockingly refreshing especially if you use club soda to make a sparkling lemonade with some lemons and simple.
If I’m feeling extra sweet a splash of elderflower and fallernum isn’t unwelcome either.
Well the fact that it includes the words “enrages Putin” in the title actually means that they think it matters a lot to get ahead of it and get people to think it’s a bad idea to support Ukraine.
