not only does it have a larger battery… it also uses up that battery 10 times faster while doing 100 times less work :')
I would really like to have modern laptops at like double/triple the size for more battery space though, why can’t we have a normal laptop that lasts like a week on a charge?
I just started using it today after seeing a comment on it, it may have been yours and it seems fantastic, I took a look at their demo searches and it reminded me of old google while still keeping elements from new google I find useful, and being able to disable or disable any feature I want is amazing.
I haven’t dug in too deep on making my own lenses yet, since they had some very sensible defaults (I mean seriously they have a default lemmy/fediverse lens) but that feature seems incredibly cool and useful if I want to set up something to easily search a variety of niche, focused websites on a subject I want to search on a regular basis.
I was worried about it not featuring conversions/math stuff but prepared to use WolframAlpha for that, but it included them, the only thing is oddly after providing the answer to my test math query of 88+17 it showed search results from the quran and the bible lol. But I suppose that was just a minor oddity.
Edit: Due to popular demand FatTony Search servers are down for the time being. but has gone open source just in time (Yes that’s how it works 😡) . You may now get responses from other users. Servers will be back up some time later.
Currently playing fallout New Vegas modded on Linux! Of course if you already did it, remodding and transferring the saves would be frustrating, but it is actually pretty simple once you learn how to use Steam Tinker Launch.
Obviously imo because they are trying to treat the symptoms and not the disease.
Do you know what the best coping mechanisms are for anxiety/insecurity are? Broadly it’s removing the causes of the anxiety and insecurity. What is the best coping mechanism for depression? A better world to live in, a place where we can flourish as ourselves, a fantasy lived by earlier generations where parents had time for their children as they weren’t completely overburdened.
We and our children are commodified for the ruling class, we are trained to be little more than cogs in a machine, taught to accept and cope with that until our fragile consciousness breaks. Our society holds no value for humanity and itself, our communities are self destructive.
Marijuana is its own special category, but club drugs (which for some reason include date rape drugs), inhalants and steroids are all in a “miscellaneous” category together?...
I looked it up to read it, harrowing but I don’t think he is dead. He posted a few years ago saying that the account is too much to log in on, from all the messages and I get that. I once made some posts/comments about being suicidal that got nowhere near the attention he got and I was getting DMs about it for years. I can’t imagine the stress of logging in to that account with how many mentions, DMs and comments it must receive, about a really really shitty time in your life.
Even when you are paying for accuracy… I went to a home once for someone who paid for the builders to get everything perfect; the walls were crooked and warped like every wall I’ve ever seen.
Awards or any other monetarily focused system inherently balance discussions towards the inclinations of wealthy people. We already have too much of that in the world, that they can buy law, buy awareness, buy support, it is a bad idea to let them buy opinions and discussion. Everyone gets one vote, nobody is special enough to be worth more than any other.
There isn’t any truly stopping them however, they can buy users, buy botnets, buy influence anywhere. Fuck it I guess, nothing is sacred, everything is tainted.
For me the first thing that comes to mind is Tales from Earthsea. I don’t think it’s excellent or anything and has plenty of problems but people act like it killed their dog. While it has its problems that have been covered extensively, I think it has a beautiful atmosphere and art....
2001 is definitely what I call a watch once film. It’s worth watching based on it’s artistic merits, and appreciating the groundbreaking for it’s time practical cinematography. But the film is definitely super dry, and not quite entertaining. When the intermission comes on, actually take a break and talk with someone or refresh yourself. The ending is also kind of nonsense taken at face value, it’s a film to be discussed, not really enjoyed.
For those reasons I say it’s worth a watch, only really once.
I definitely have, just last week my girlfriend got intentionally misgendered multiple times while going to get her gender marker changed, by a social security agent. Some people can be incredibly cruel like that. An overwhelming majority of people are not like that though, in my experience, but the sting of cruelty is louder than passive acceptance.
well it sorta just makes sense, the gui presents it as a folder, you can move things around in it like a folder, conceptually it presents them in a way to make you think they are physical things stored in a physical folder/box. cli it really just feels like you are using a string of characters indicating the desired file, it feels more like a directory that way, even if it always really is that way, just showcased differently in the gui.

Idk if it is just me but lemmy has appeared to have a massive right wing shift, at least a huge influx of liberals unable to have a conversation without blindly slinging accusations. A lot of people on lemmy now unable to comprehend unhappiness with the system, singing praises to the status quo and woefully inadequate reforms at best. Welcome to election season I guess.
That wasn’t meant as an accusation or anything, nor was I claiming you had or have an unhealthy emotional dependence. There are certainly stages to intimacy, emotionally, romantic, and sexually.
And that really helps tie together what I am trying to explain here. No partnership is inherently anything, people have different needs, desires, and experience the world in vastly different ways. People have varying degrees of emotions, romanticism, and sexuality. Your responses and how you said them did appear phobic or angry/dismissive at the least so that’s why I decided I should just dismiss you as a person disrespecting of my lifestyle.
I think it is clear to me now you either had a bad experience and were traumatized by a poor partner, or simply realized you were monogamous. That is totally ok, I’m glad you realize who you are and are happy with it. Though it is certainly easier desiring a societal norm, see our discussion on what I am, where I am defending and trying to explain the vastness of experiences I and others have. You don’t ever have to defend monogamy in our society. As for your views on relationships and sexuality, I still will deny that partnerships are always ever sexual. It’s definitely possible, reading what you’ve said, you are some measure of aromantic to tie everything to being sexual in origin and meaning within a romantic gesture or close non-platonic intimacy. That’s ok too, that is how you experience the world, but that’s not how everyone is or feels about things. If that view is a response to your experiences, I’m sorry that you’ve only ever experienced things as a pretense to sex, but there is a lot more out there.

Now that DuckDuckGo is out. Give me your search prompts and I'll answer them as best I can. That includes images (based on what I have saved on my PC). So what is it you wish to know or see?
