Mambert,

Websites can be vague, or outdated. Is there any error from running the command?

Mambert,

It was fun for me to switch. I had the same mentality as you had, I could’ve waited until windows 10 support ended to switch to Linux, but I decided to switch a few years ago and now I have years of experience.

You’ll definitely need to get used to hunting down that one single package you need to get the programs you want working. I find it nice to dedicate an evening to getting something working, and that’s fun for me. For example, I took an evening to get thumbnails working in “file Explorer” (it requires ffmpeg btw). You can be lazy with Arch, but it will take time to get it perfect. The problem with arch is you can make it to your standards. If you have low standards, you can get away with a lot.

Mambert,

Ooh edgy

I’m sure he’s happy with his amount of friends

Mambert,

Same here. I’d love to do the same just to not surround myself in a hivemind of friends. South Mississippi

Mambert,

Most distros are the same under the hood. I’d recommend downloading different desktop environments. You can stay on Mint and keep all your files.

Mambert,

I’d recommend KDE and Gnome. They’re the two most popular and mainstream DEs. If you ever plan on switching to another distro, being familiar with these two will benefit you.

If you feel really confident, you can start playing with window managers.

Mambert,

Day 110: xnomad

When was the last time you answered a Lemmy or Reddit post/thread that was more than five months old?

I think there should be some incentive for that, like make those kinds of comments a spotlight or something. Maybe make a community called “late replies” that showcases the best such replies, or have a rule saying they grant free karma (in Reddit’s case).

Mambert,

Waiting 5 months to reply to this.

Mambert,

Question in post was never about replying for the first time.

Mambert,

I once won a game back that was +63 from analysis, to M1.

Just so your best to keep a rook on the board, and walk your king over slyly to the king.

Mambert,

You can be 100% vegetarian except for eating the rich. Eating the rich would reduce animal harm worldwide.

Mambert,

It’s all open source. You can merge them yourself. It is a massive technical challenge and pretty much impossible, it’d be like merging minecraft and fallout together.

People do make money off of open source projects, not just from donations, but sometimes providing prenium features, or providing their own servers instead of you maintaining your own.

There are project leaders, Linus has the final say in what does and does not make it into the Linux kernel.

JUUL Pods Unveiled: A Deep Dive into Complexity, Controversy, and the Shifting Landscape of Nicotine Consumption (vapeshouse.com)

In the ever-evolving tapestry of tobacco alternatives, JUUL has emerged as a cultural touchstone, capturing the fascination of young adults with its sleek design and widespread popularity. At the core of the JUUL experience are its proprietary pods – compact reservoirs containing a meticulously crafted blend of nicotine,...

Mambert,

I’d start with Ubuntu. If there’s any niche software, it will probably run on Ubuntu/debian distros.

Mambert,

Was it the bill of rights? I thought it was the articles of confederation, which came before the constitution.

Mambert,

GMO isn’t bad. Everything is genetically modified.

Patented foods already exist. Have for years.

Monsanto has corn plants that don’t grow at a consistent height if you try to replant the seeds, making them profit by getting you to buy more seeds next year.

We already have seedless plants, bananas.

Mambert,

Dominate the market instead of make the market better? I don’t quite follow.

A seed that can be planted in more areas, and consistently grow more abundantly, seems favorable for all.

Yet I can still go to the farmer’s market and get my 60+ types of apples, honey, etc. If I want something special.

Or are you saying that once one seed is produced, companies will stick with that instead of continuing to improve the seed? Because that’s not the case either, there’s hundreds of varieties of corn, each able to tolerate slightly different conditions.

Mambert,

I think seeing how well the OLED versions of consoles sells, Nintendo will release their new switch with OLED, then make a cheaper non-oled version like the switch lite / 2ds /etc.

Mambert,

For getting your value out of it, I highly recommend emulation.
