I was wondering why I couldn’t upvote this post, saw it was saying I wasn’t logged in, and let me tell you the relogging/logging out process in liftoff could use some work, in the end I had to delete the account from the app and re-add it.
I liked emoji in slack in the work context as a way to convey quick acknowledgement/info but on certain social media they tend to get abused or just end up being an eyesore with little informational value. But that’s just my opinion, I can see how it would be cool to have the instance logo as one though.

We do it all the time here in our neighbourhood. Outdoor cats are very popular around here so there are a LOT of cats going around. We know and recognize a number of them, we see where their territories more or less start and end, and some of the little rascals even come into our garden. Some will come up to us easily, others less so.

I’m past that hump as well. I was “protesting” and spreading the word through June on there, but when RiF stopped I stopped visiting the site except as a result of Google searches for specific things.
I don’t even really care what happens now over there, I’ll feel a bit of Schadenfreude the day I hear they’re going under but I don’t care to follow the day to day of what’s happening.
It’s also not going to be a quick process, it’s been going down the drain for years already and it’ll be many more years before it’s “dead”.
I mean just having someone that has good real world UX skills (as in, good UX for normies) to redesign join.lemmy would probably already solve 90% of it.
I think account transfers is another thing what would help alleviate the pressure from choosing an instance.
