Gotta back up that claim my dude. Not everyone knows what everyone else has done.

I’m in the UK and it doesn’t work for me either, even after changing my question 4 or 5 times. It’s probably region-locked.

What would be the purpose of connecting such a list to the fediverse?

Can banner we get banner ads adjusted? (lemmy.world)

With the ad adjustment came these banner ads on the top of comment sections and they are atrocious so much so I don’t bother reading comments anymore. They all have the obnoxious white backgrounds and they flicker since they move. It feels light no matter my phones britness they are blinding and since content doesnt get loads...

If you supported the dev you’d pay to remove the ads. Clicking the ads would also support them.

It’s alright to like an app just because it’s familiar. I feel the same way with Boost.

VRChat for sure. You can easily spend so much time in there.

She was basically the first internet doxx.

This isn’t doxxing, this is just the internet spreading lies.

Doxxing is publishing personal/private information about someone online, which didn’t happen in this story.

This is who all the people who pronounce “gif” as “jif” worship

You can code in Notepad in the same way you can eat off the floor with your hands. Using better tools is a nicer experience.

As for performance, when one of the world’s most popular editor runs on Electron, it’s not that hard to see why performance could be an issue when working on large projects on older hardware.
I’ve never personally had an issue with VSCode’s performance, but I’m also fortunate enough to be in a position where I can afford a relatively modern machine. Many others have to make do with what they have, which is why Zed might appeal to them.

implying that any developer actually reads warnings

I second this.

You’re using them exactly as intended, and that’s a good thing.

Being on benefits alone does not mean people dislike you. I think the way most people see it is that there are two groups: the people who try and get jobs and use benefits to live in the meantime, and the ones who intentionally coast by and live on the taxpayers money without ever intending to work honestly.

You are part of the former group. The good ones. So please don’t feel guilty for accepting help.

I am a software developer and gamer who lives in his mother’s basement and watches anime.

In my defense: I am in the process of buying my own house, I practice good hygiene, and I do have a social life (unlike a stereotypical basement-dweller). I have no excuse for the anime, that’s on me.

Consider all the gamers with more money than sense buying 4090s for the price of cars and, more importantly, many companies buying datacenter cards for their next generative AI project (not that I think many of them will last).

I don’t see Nvidia running out of money any time soon.

That’s easy: getRandomBoolean()

Sure, it might be wrong sometimes, but we can just blame it on the September 2021 training cutoff.

I had that moment when learning to code. I had like 98% or what I needed to know. Then one day I came across some random SO post, learned something that I really should have learned a while ago (the difference between static classes and instantiated classes, yes really) and then everything just fell into place and I realised I could actually write proper code now. It was a fun moment :)

Nope.

I mean the movie, I’m not just refusing to answer. If you don’t already know what it’s about, it does an incredibly good job of making you curious as to what the fuck is going on.

Also, it’s just a banger with lots of attention to detail. Highly recommended.

I still remember getting that in Wordle. I think I stopped playing after that.

Far easier to do too. I did one of each last month and there’s no question that the Windows setup experience is terrible in comparison.

Pyroglyph,

Same here, to a certain extent.

I was referring only to Linux’s lack of bullshittery in comparison to Windows, nothing else.

Logitech G203 is the cheapest mouse with a “perfect sensor” that I’ve yet to find. Only ~£25 new on Amazon.

Fantastic value.

(for what makes a “perfect sensor”, I use sensor.fyi)

I think the main complaint is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

I like the old UI. I had no complaints. So why change it? So much developer expense for zero user benefit.

I used that one revert Gist that NTTS talked about and it’s been the same as always ever since. If Discord makes an update that removes the old UI then I’ll use an old version until they absolutely force me. I will not voluntarily use the new UI, because I think it’s not as good, and that’s it.

Holy shit, Math Blaster 9-12. You just threw me back SO far. I just had a vivid image in my mind’s eye of the home office I played it in.

Thank you for the throwback.
