Chdir is a function within C/++ so it’s most likely a problem with Chrome, as I’m fairly certain Plasma would be using <unistd.h> properly… Maybe perhaps installing perl-file-chdir or perl-cwd-gaurd could solve this, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Wouldn’t hurt to try at least.

and the fact that they have the potential for HDMI2.1 support which AMD doesn’t have a solution to yet.

An open source solution exists for Intel, the way it works is just by a translation layer between HDMI & DisplayPort. I imagine AMD will do the same thing.

It entirely depends on how you set it up and where in the transport pipeline you’re intercepting pockets from.

By combining with other methods for intercepting HTTPS traffic, typically involving installing certificates or modifying system configurations like configuring your browser or operating system to log secret keys.

To break down the process of the cert method :

  • Device Trust: Install a trusted Root CA certificate (issued by you) on the Android device using Root permissions. This certificate tricks apps into trusting the proxy. Without Root level install the apps may reject the certificate as User Installed.
  • Device Routes Traffic : Configure the rooted Android device to route its traffic to the proxy on the separate system. This can be done through proxy settings.
  • Proxy Decryption : Configure the proxy to use the corresponding private key to decrypt the HTTPS traffic coming from your device, this key is generated when you created/issued the Root CA.
  • Traffic Inspection : With the traffic decrypted, you can use Wireshark configured to the proxy to inspect the traffic.
  • Proxy Re-encrypts and Forwards: After inspection, the proxy re-encrypts the traffic using a legitimate certificate and forwards it to the real website.

With the traffic decrypted it should be possible to automate the inspection process to some degree, but obviously milage may vary.

That’s why KDE Plasma just makes the searches shortcuts in a similar manner to the !bang feature of duckduckgo. Though it’d be nice if the used ! in the shortcuts alies by default. !ddg is just more reliable than ddg.

The registry is worse. They maliciously hide basic settings and leave you to figure it out without any documentation.
The terminal is actually consistent, Grub entries are consistent and have documentation, editing plain text is way better than manipulating binary data with a jank tool.
I guarantee that most Windows users, including the techy type, had no clue that the feature described in my post was even possible or existed. Point is, this is not a system level setting, it’s a basic setting that can easily be done with a simple GUI checkbox/button/switch just as KDE plasma has done. Window’s hiding it, not only inside the registry, but even hiding it from the registry as an unmarked option with 0 documention, is utterly ridiculous.

Yes, it is functionally different. Because of man, -h/–help,https://github.com/dbrgn/tealdeer, documentation, consistency, etc.
The terminal is a consistent and predictable tool that you are given every needed resource to able to learn and use. To find out what a command does is easy and you don’t need internet to do it. Plus, the terminal is way more versatile and extensible.
The entire point of the terminal is to empower the user and give a consistent interference to manipulate low-level and high-level settings, features and applications. While the entire point of the registry is to limit & obscure the accessibly of options Microsoft doesn’t want you to be able to touch or know about. Nor is it even consistent for that matter, with stuff shuffling around, resetting and being removed during updates. My post is a prime example, they don’t want you to be able to disable Bing search because they make money from it, exactly the same reason they actively try preventing you from removing edge.

The reason why is because of dependency hell and general packaging conflicts that could occur. You can go with the tar, snap, appimage or flatpak. If you do decide to use the system level package from a 3rd party, just be aware of the risks and be careful. The issue lay within the difference in standards, the usual target for these companies is Debian using the Debian packaging guidelines, while Ubuntu has their own, Ubuntu and Debian also have different release cycles which can lead to conflict with certain packages.
Perhaps, if you’re needs aren’t met maybe moving to a semi-rolling or rolling distro is best.
