Very concerned, yea. “Shocked” that the son of the coup ringleader is helping his Congolese dad?

The US had completely unrelated people going to the Middle East to become part of isis and flying to the White House to overthrow democracy. Some kid fighting for his dad seems less weird than either of those.

Make the world a safer place, Turks and Caicos.

12 years seems like a long time, but a couple years of prison for bringing a weapon to a country that has illegalized those weapons and states very clearly that you can be prosecuted for bringing those weapons?

Sure.

Varyk,

Oh, thanks, I thought I read the woman had ammunition only, but the four earlier tourists were carrying guns. They were apparently not!

Still, if the airport explicitly tells you not to carry firearm ammunition into the country under penalty of prosecution, and then you carry firearm ammunition into the country, you can’t be shocked by prosecution.

Varyk,

Haven’t heard of this, thanks!

Varyk,

Nice. I’m just finishing fallout s1, which is turning out much better than I worked about, but i’ll give this a look very soon.

I keep thinking of rec, also Spanish, one of my favorites

Varyk,

That was really good, thanks for sharing. I was hooked the whole time. This is the 2023 film btw, not the 2018 film, looks like.

Varyk,

Great, let the Russians break their backs over this.

I’d like to see their military capabilities in traction for a while.

Lawsuit Brings to Light New Revelations About 2020 Fraudulent Electors Scheme (www.justsecurity.org)

In March, our team at Georgetown Law’s Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection—along with our co-counsel at Law Forward and Stafford Rosenbaum, LLP—settled Penebaker v. Hitt, a historic lawsuit brought by two Democratic Wisconsin electors against the ten individuals who fraudulently cast ballots for Trump and...

Oh hell yes, I’m so excited for everyone involved to get destroyed by this case.

By literally forging election documents and sending them in to deceive room officials and overturn the legitimate democratic process.

I cannot get over how insane this plot was and that it was actually carried out up until the point nara pointed out that these documents are forgeries.

Varyk,

Go on.

Dozens of people, including Trump, Giuliani, The lawyers and dozens of politicians who helped come up with and enact the forgeries are facing multiple felony charges by AGs across seven States and the DOJ. One of the lawyers has been openly informing on his colleagues.

They spend their birthdays together, scolding xi for 5 minutes every other month isn’t really going to do anything.

Silver lining is that Russia could drag down China with it diplomatically and economically and give everyone else some breathing room.

Varyk,

“The rioting erupted over a new bill, adopted by lawmakers in Paris on Tuesday, that will let French residents who have lived in New Caledonia for 10 years vote in provincial elections.”

Wow, I need some more historical context on voting in new Caledonia and how this reform is leading to fatalities and such huge riots.

Great, freedom of religion. The Satanic temple is doing it right.

House panel advances Garland contempt after White House blocks access to Biden special counsel tape (apnews.com)

The House Judiciary Committee voted to move forward with an effort to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress hours after the White House blocked access to an audio recording of President Joe Biden’s interview with the special counsel who oversaw an investigation into his handling of classified documents....

Varyk,

I know nothing about this. What is going on?

Is it important in some way?

Varyk,

Oh, got it, thanks

Varyk,

Okay I remember that now, thanks

I am an adult, and I do like spicy food, but I’d like to throw in that this chip is fine. It’s spicy, but not crazy. It was hot for a few minutes and then not hot.

I’m more surprised that the article affirms that large amounts of capsaicin can be physically damaging in some way. I’ve never heard of that before.

Varyk,

Wow, apparently I do not understand the risks. I actually looked it up after I really started eating spicy food almost everyday and I understood capsaicin to excite nerves but not cause any physical damage.

I am going to have to look that up again I guess.

I think the only thing I came across was it being good for your GI tract somehow, like being good for stopping ulcers.

Varyk,

Currently. It’s gone back and forth a few times, with each 'ban" preceding large purchases by the Chinese government of cryptocurrencies.

But even if it is illegal in China, they can hold the money offshore and spend it as easily as anybody else.

Also, if you are politically connected or pay the government enough money and your behavior doesn’t negatively affect the CCP, then things aren’t actionably illegal in China.

Varyk,

Go on

Varyk,

Hahaha, thank you for explaining, that sounds horrifying.

I still haven’t ever played Minecraft, so I’m unfamiliar with a lot of the popular lore.

“Chicken singularity” was a term that begged for clarification.

Americans are choking on surging fast-food prices. "I can't justify the expense," one customer says (www.cbsnews.com)

Kevin Roberts remembers when he could get a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a drink from Five Guys for $10. But that was years ago. When the Virginia high school teacher recently visited the fast-food chain, the food alone without a beverage cost double that amount....

Varyk,

I’m good, I dislike half-baked assumptions and lazy springboarding:

“You are framing this as an access issue rather than one of predation”

I specifically say that the problem is profit-driven; in no way is my comment framed as an access issue.

“Fast food chains don’t make a cheap menu to help poor people experience their food, they do it to milk every bit of money from a populace.”

Nobody said that fast food chains are trying to help people; I noted that the problem of increased fast food prices can only be attributed to corporate greed.

“Don’t expect social justice from corporate entities.”

No comment here expects or advocates for social justice from corporate entities. It is a fact that many fast food companies very recently used to have substantial dollar menus and no longer have dollar menus.

Your comment is immaterial as a reply and reads as populist posturing at the expense and disregard of the comment you’re responding to.

If you agree? Fine. If you disagree? Fine.

Don’t agree with what I’m saying by pretending I said something I didn’t to drum up false controversy.

The Sisters [James Joyce] [Modernist, Avant Garde]

Three nights in succession I had found myself in Great Britain-street at that hour, as if by Providence. Three nights also I had raised my eyes to that lighted square of window and speculated. I seemed to understand that it would occur at night. But in spite of the Providence that had led my feet, and in spite of the reverent...

Varyk,

Thanks for the detailed answer and short story… I had no idea Joyce invented stream of consciousness prose, that’s very intriguing.

I’ll read Araby and see what I see.
