Re my last repost about letter writing. I was literally thinking about this yesterday. I have letters my Grandad wrote me when I was young, which I treasure.

I can remember the excitement when the postie bought a new letter.

I love lots of things about the Internet but do have a nostalgic desire for some letter writing

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@Mollysdailykiss I remember when I was younger (late-90s I guess) I had extended family living down in London and for a brief period they would send me letters and i'd send them replies.

It was always exciting to get and read them and write back.

I also go a fabulous postcard a year or so ago from a blogger on Twitter/Discord and it was so nice to get something handwritten especially all the way from Canada.

Can I eat a Toffee Crisp at 10:48pm?

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@robyneatseverything yes and enjoy it.

I've certainly done it, having just enough time after work to nip to the Tesco express on the way for my bus to grab a drink and sweet treat.

If you have not read either of these books, then you really should.

Regardless of whether you like Non fic or not, if you are using this here big old interwebs, then honestly read them both. Start with Doppelganger and then read Code Dependant.

Is technology gonna destroy democracy? What about the whole of humanity?

These books made me worry, but both also gave hope for the future and the power of humanity and most of all communities.

@Mollysdailykiss @bookstodon Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm not a reader but have wanted to start reading a bit more and these are right up my alley. Might have to dust the kindle off and read on my commutes to/from work.

Being an anonymous sex blogger is super frustrating because sometimes I need hair styling advice and none of you can bloody see it.

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@robyneatseverything I'm probably far less anonymous than I think but I get this, not really that I need hair advice.

I either do a basic job of self dying my hair then when it gets too long I go bald.

If you had an alt account it would help but then imo having an alt is not the same and for me it ends up being like my personal account which I already have.

IDEA for a business: pressure-washing company, but as well as charging people to jet-clean their patios, you charge other people to have a go with the lovely soothing power hose.

We_Fear_Nothing,

@girlonthenet Oh yes to all of this.

What about one of those hard floor buffing/cleaning machines, always wanted to have a go with one, maybe a ride on mower too.

Wish us luck folks!!! Your well wishes always seem to stretch to us & give positive results 🤞🏻 Mr F is having his health & safety audit as I type! It's a big deal, so important & whatever positive vibes you can end for the most excellent outcome would be most appreciated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

good luck!

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@followingfloss Oh well done, this is excellent to hear and 9/10 is great for his first time as big boss.

We're still waiting on our audit for my place but have done a lot of work to get a good score. We got our previous result out to go over and we're spurred on by seeing a fellow restaurant in the chain getting a really really low score so not wanting to fail so bad

If we can get over 95/100 then we'll be good.

What’s your best piece of relationship advice?

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@girlonthenet I think a good relationship is one where you can be together as a couple but also do your own thing separately and be happy for each other doing so.

Knowing who you're with and understanding who they are so you can better listen to them and they know they're heard.

Never let someone change yourself nor you change others but grow together, learn how to be a better person and how the relationship can grow together.

Just be open and honest with one another too.

This is about music blogging but lots resonated for me too including that it's the free space for me to do whatever pleases me. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just is

@Mollysdailykiss Thanks for making me aware of this, it really resonated with me too in some ways.

I blog for the fun of it, being able to share thoughts and feelings, whatever I feel like writing about or that's in my mind at a particular time.

This last part just sums me up perfectly though "And for every post published, there are five that never get beyond notepad scrawls or fumes in the back of my mind."

One of my favourite things about Xmas as an adult, is I make the rules & I can do whatever I want. Some years this has meant doing nothing at all & letting eldest enjoy time at his dad's. Now it means buying the sweets I want & having them out already, not putting in 'the Xmas cupboard' until Xmas day! We will probably have food from work on Xmas Day, so I'll just be making a curry, for those who don't fancy a roast. Sometimes being a grown up is alright.

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@followingfloss I get you on this, more so now than in the past.

Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with the family at my sisters and this year it'll be much more important with recent family health stuff, but I've also loved saying "I'll stay home this year"" and having a quieter day in my own home doing what I please, just me and my mum.

Also loved the few times we've done the whole chinese takeaway for dinner thing, sometimes comfort food is best, I'm not big on roasts tbh.

Kink of the Week – The future
I have thought a lot about this over the last six months. In the summer I was fairly certainly that it was time to pause this project but then things shifted again for me in September and I changed my mind. However as the autumn turned to winter and I looked ahead into 2024 I realised that for now I needed to make some changes.

It can be challenging to star

@Mollysdailykiss This was/is always a favourite meme of mine so no matter what happens thanks for hosting it.

I didn't post for every prompt but always found it fun to explore various kinks that maybe I hadn't or just sharing things to a wider audience on my blog rather than just to myself.

I saw a reddit post recently where a woman was upset by her b'day gift, included in that was some stickers of her favourite breed of dog. She said what would she use stickers for in her 30's. Now I'm not saying she was wrong overall, but I am saying she was wrong about the stickers. I've just sat & covered my 2024 diary in cat stickers & it was absolutely joyful! I love stickers. I'm even upcycling an old book shelf with stickers. So here are my pictures to share the sticker joy 😊

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@followingfloss I love stickers, if you get ones for your interests or just designs you like it's fun to put them on stuff to jazz it up.

The last 2 major laptops I owned had stickers on the lid, one with Heavy Metal themes ones and the other with Super Nintendo ones, I even put some on my switch dock.

I'm well into my 30s and nothing wrong with stickers, nothing wrong with not wanting them but they're nice to have.

Unexpectedly got a big hug this morning and the other person doesn't realise how much I needed it as much as they did.

All that's going on in life with my mum going back and fourth to hospital plus being exhausted from work and you can imagine.

We_Fear_Nothing, to random
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

Well I guess I wasn't expecting the news I got yesterday after my mum got back from a hospital appointment.

After getting the all clear a few months back from last years hospital stay she ended up back in hospital last month and now the results from that are not good.

Not life-threating but very much a lot to process and deal with going forward.

I'm lucky to have a close sibling and more than that a good friend who is happy for me to vent to, going to be tough as things progress and sink in.

@robyneatseverything I don't write as much as I like and not a wine drinker but this sounds like a great idea. I'm forever inspired by others to write so IRL would be even better and I'm up for a good gossip that isn't work stuff lol

Mastodon has made me realise how much I friggin love geeks, especially the techie geek men.

Half of what they say is beyond me, talking about their Linux distros, (whatever that is... please don't explain it, I married a tech geek and he is now explaining it) but I love it.

Twitter was like this once back in the before times and it's lovely to refind it here

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@Mollysdailykiss As a techie geek I love others appreciating us, not as into Linux as others but I know the basics.

Part of the appeal of my blog early on for me was tinkering till I got it setup enough to work and figuring out all the little things that came up as I went.

I'm far from a pro, more tech enthusiast but so much fun in it. My next thing is learning to use a proper camera that's not just my phone.

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@Mollysdailykiss it was fun starting from nothing then ending up with a blog that works and I am happy with.

Going by your photos I think you have it sussed but nice to keep learning. Maybe next year I'll pick up a proepr camera, may have uses for one for the blog.

People whose houses are clean and tidy most of the time, how do you do that? Do you have some sort of system to work through some jobs each day? Or does it just come naturally? I want this flat to be clean, tidy and as clutter free as possible, but I just don't seem to be that person! And I'd love to push the full blame onto having kids but that would be disingenuous! So please if you have any cleaning, tidying or home life hack tips please share them 💓

a little disorganized

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@followingfloss I'm somewhat clean but messy/untidy and recently got the urge to do something about it.

I looked at all the mess I have, looked at how it got to be messy and how to avoid it. Basically for me it's as simple as having a place for everything and putting everything in its place right away, I should be able to then have a tidy place that's easier to clean more often.

Also trying to work on selling/charity shop donating of items so I have less mess to tidy and more space.

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@followingfloss Ahh right, I hope you can get that as you settle in.

I also mean, at least for me, is using the storage I do have. I'm far to used to taking stuff out of a drawer or whatever and once done I never put it back or thinking I'll put stuff away later and never get to it.

That and having too much stuff I don't use just taking up space but can never find time/energy to deal with selling, charity shop or taking it to the tip.

This has absolutely been the key to me finding peace & happiness.

The white roses my mum gave me this week make me smile

We are planning our big Thanksgiving family meal for next week.

Today I get to light candles, have a bath, snuggle under a blanket with the dog & Michael & read my book.
We will finally finish the Haunting of Blyth Manor.
If I never set foot on a plane again, oh well, it is what it is. There is so much joy in every day.

Yes I am aware of my privileges

Find your joy

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@Mollysdailykiss I love this, small joys can be as good if not better than big ones though I lived on small joys for years and only in the last few years have ventured out into big things in my life.

TBH though I spend most evenings (when not in work) chatting to a close friend. We're both in our own homes doing our own thing but it's so joyous to have someone to spend time with even if it's online, we can talk about life and serious stuff, random stuff or anything in between.

We_Fear_Nothing,
@We_Fear_Nothing@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@Mollysdailykiss I love my new found travelling, exploring and doing lots of big things but nothing beats staying home and spending time with my friend.

Your snuggling with the dog and Michael sounds perfect so enjoy it. ❤️
