Well @zuck (and @mosseri) are from Threads and, like @Mastodon, it makes sense a lot of people would first choose to follow the top leaders. I imagine the majority of those are actually legitimate users, though the Threads bubble also very quickly popped, so who knows how many are still active

I mean, I haven’t yet seen a recommendation for a second person to provide accompaniment, but at least here in the US, CPR training does actually suggest performing chest compressions to the beat of Stayin’ Alive

(Another One Bites the Dust also works well, but is… less advised to sing that one while doing cpr lol)

Yeah Lemmy just doesn’t have the userbase to fill niches with as much breadth as Reddit. A lot of people (myself included) actually prefer the smaller, more intimate nature of things here, but it does hurt in cases like this

Though as far as niche communities go, I’d say we’re a moderately decent-sized bunch. Far from the biggest and far from Reddit size, but not too small, either

I’ve personally been used Cx File Explorer to locally access SMB-shared folders from a Win10 device and a OpenMediaVault-based NAS, without problem (neither accessible remotely so cant attest there)

What exactly is not working? Are you getting any usable error messages? If you’re not out of the country yet, can you connect locally? Do other SMB shares work?

My guess would then be probably Tailscale or Pihole somehow interfering with that connection for some reason. Idk if you’re able (or willing) to remove those from the equation, but that might help narrow things down. If you have access to another computer locally, maybe sharing a folder on that and gradually adding steps to make it closer to your target system until it stops working?
