It would be really nice if communities could be connected right at instance level.

So if you have c/abc on instance 1 and c/abc on instance 2, and you subscribe to either of them, it would, by default, subscribe you to both (assuming that both instances agree to such a cooperation).

Something could also be arranged within communities, especially when it comes to posting. Such as, when posting, to be able to select multiple coms to post to, but it would still be just one post you could edit or delete, and have all the comments in one place.

On Reddit I would sometimes struggle with which sub to post to, and I don't like posting to multiple ones or crossposting if I can avoid it.

I remember back in early 00's, when game magazines with full games on disks were common, someone from Nintendo - I believe Miyamoto himself - said that stifles innovation.

Nintendo only wants you to sell you new games at full prices, period. You're not supposed to think of anything else, except for exceptions when they also want to milk your nostalgia.

Well then make it impossible to transfer the copyright. In most jurisdiction it's not possible anyway. You can only licence it, not transfer.

I guess it might be difficult to figure out shared copyright in teamwork, but indie teams work just fine, and it's still a better option than corpus sitting on a golden pile of IPs.

When are they the best?

What game is improved the most by mods?

I know most of the Bethesda RPGs have massive mod support, and there's games like Minecraft that have more mods than anyone can imagine. I would consider those games pretty playable in their vanilla states. Would you say there are any games that were "saved" by modding? Or that are still kept alive by thriving modding...

I don't know if improving is the right word, but the amount of transformative mods older games like Doom, Half-Life or Unreal Tournament (and not just shooters ofc) had, was wild.

Team Fortress started as a Quake mod, Counter-Strike as a HL mod, DotA as a Warcraft 3 mod.

Finding an instance that blocks least and is least blocked

Is there a way to shop around for a Lemmy instance based on how many instances are blocking it and how many instances it's blocking? For example, I noticed that the lemmygrad.ml instance is relatively popular, but it seems like a lot of other instances block it. It also blocks a bunch of other instances. So, if there are any...

I'm on https://lemmy.world. Apparently the people running it also run a mastodon server with 160k I think? users, so this might be good.

So, something like that works for a "normal" acct I think. I doubt there's a way to avoid making alt accts if you also wanna explore alternative topics and lifestyles.

Digg-ing their grave... Good one

Good for including Steam in that list. The amount of die hard Steam fanatics is crazy and sad.

Reddit has permanently suspended my account for supporting Lemmy.

I have been supporting Lemmy recently a lot and made posts about Lemmy that got big reach. Today, sadly the reddit account through which, I moderated a lot of subs and spent time on, comes to an end. The reason was because I spammed according to reddit, but the reality is that they have censored me because I was hurting Reddit....

Just got banned from a meme sub for making a meme about moving to Lemmy... Even tho the sub is participating in the blackout. Go figure.

I'd like to make formuladank (F1 memes), 3DS/DS and PlayStation (general PS, there's a specific PS5 one). Might bring in people from Reddit.

I tried to make a community but the final create button was unresponsive.

Tried, no difference. This is Icearaven (FF fork just with addons so no real difference) on Android.

I also wanted to try in Bromite but I can't even log in, it gets stuck. nvm my bad, wrong password. Should have an error message there instead of just spinning.

WhoRoger,
@WhoRoger@lemmy.world avatar

Aha I know what the problem was. Lowercase only. The error popup informing about this doesn't show up on FF, so I didn't know that's a requirement.

So I'm thinking some health related coms could be useful. I was thinking migraine because that's what I'm familiar with, but I can't see anything health related on any instance. So maybe something broad for starters, like just health?
