Xanis,

I used to live in Wisconsin. I remember a tornado warning and people, including me, were standing in the intersections and streets to get a better view. I had spotted something odd in the clouds and to this day swear I saw a tornado second guess itself. I heard the next day that one had touched down a few miles North in a field.

“Why were you running back to the house last night? haha”

“I, uh…don’t like heights…”

Xanis,

Far as I have been able to tell there are two things stopping a good portion on the left from actually rioting:

  1. Hope that voting will do what we need it to do
  2. Lack of agreement on what to do

The third may be apathy, though that’s been a constant, and basically a given at this point. I expect a loss of hope and general apathy over time if this went through. However, I also expect that the removal of 1 will cause 2 to no longer be an issue.

Who knows though.

Xanis,

Oh no. Please don’t target Taylor Swift. Oh gosh. Conservatives, this will just ruin everything for all other people. You can’t do this. Her like bazillion fans are definitely too young to vote. Ah. No. Stop.

Xanis,

You might have a point here. Nowadays I can 100% see in my head, a little playfully maybe, corps coming for the kneecaps. This timeline so damned deranged it doesn’t seem farfetched atm.

Xanis,

I have about 40 hours into the game. My friend about the same. He knows three people with 20+. I have read several forum posts and watched reviews on this game. In a handful of instances the fire is mentioned. It’s a rare occurrence started by a Pal being on fire or using fire very close to your building. You can stop this by scrapping a section not on fire and by keeping anything that requires fire away from buildings. That said, I spent a day roasting an egg next to a furnace inside my wooden hut and nothing happened.

Also, it’s early access.

And one situation create bad does not a game make. Or something. :D - Anyway, gather stone and build your shit outta stone. Looks decent too.

Xanis,

I was bullied from grades 3 halfway thru 12. In grade 9 it began to get physical. In grade 12 it stopped being physical after my bully, a weightlifter and football player, pulled back a basketball and threw it with all his strength at the back of my head in gym. I broke his nose.

I am not particularly proud of it. I am not bragging. Though multiple times throughout the years I wondered how no one noticed. As the years went on I saw other students look away, if they weren’t laughing at me. I then began to notice the rare teacher look once and then act like they saw nothing.

To me, what some of these kids do doesn’t seem like that much of a stretch. I think this way because of my experiences, amongst other family issues that were also happening. While I am not wholly certain, when I dig deep, it’s possible one of the key reasons nothing more happened is because after I snapped it all stopped.

The line is thinner than you realize, I think.

Funny thing is, now that I’m older, I understand that I handled everything well by the perspective of people who believe the wall of “don’t hurt others” doesn’t have a door in it. Just a ton of trauma and general mistrust for anyone who happens to be male and anyone in authority, and a very deep dislike for injustice and preventable incidents.

Xanis,

Say again? I can’t hear you while getting bent over by rent, bills, grocery costs, etc.

At least it’s done gently. They caress my money lovingly out of my bank account each month.

Xanis,

I normally agree. In 99% of situations skip that early access and wait for, at minimum, fully supported Beta release after the major issues have been ironed out. This is that incredibly uncommon 1% that’s worth it. First Early Access title I have grabbed in years.

Xanis,

In this thread:

People reminding the rest of us how much they don’t remember shit. Also in this thread: See how propaganda works! More at 11.

Xanis,

Lots of controversy around this game. Gotta say, no one really cares. Well no one who doesn’t find something to complain about each day on social media anyway. Dunno about you all, though I am fucking tired. So much shit just wrong nowadays and while I do my part where I can, when it comes to games I honestly just want to sit down and have fun. Palworld is fun. Lots of potential that is likely to be built upon and just enough depth right now that I can hop into the world and actually feel just a bit of that original wonder from so many years ago. Something our old pals Game Freak and Nintendo have, much like Nvidia did years ago, purposefully opted to barely refresh the concept as time has gone on.

There have been plenty of fanmade Pokemon games that have done it better than the devs of the actual, official, licensed main games. Hell, there have been sideloaded Pokemon titles better than the cash grabs of the last few years. I for one hope Palworld lights a positive “better-than-thou” fire under Nintendo. The literal best move they could make now, imho, is run with the larger community response and release something truly mildblowing.

Xanis,

Keep an eye on it anyway. There is a epic boatload of potential in the game just below the surface. Right now the game is good, and fun, though still only a little deep and plenty wide. A couple good choices could easily deepen that depth significantly. I honestly feel as if the current game is only a foundation to lay more on top of.

That said, I’m rather bias in my optimism.

Xanis,

Okay so “very” may be a bit too forceful of a word. There are bugs, though they are fairly mild to medium at worst. The most common ones are pathing issues on base, the rare humanoid enemy getting stuck under ground, and some hitbox-related problems that are easily circumvented. The biggest issue which the devs are aware of is multiplayer save game corruption and they’ve released a guide on backing up saves as a temporary bandaid. In all, this is a rather impressive release and should improve rapidly. MUCH worse games with heavier budgets have been released in the last year alone.

Xanis,

Yo fuck it. Make me an honorary reader of the judicial order to send Trump to prison. I’ll do it on National television. Just haul my ass to Australia or something afterwards so I can avoid the crazed MAGA mobs.

Xanis,

Not gonna lie, thought that said “inventors” and I was like, “I’d watch that.”

Xanis, (edited )

I do agree. However, we tend to talk a lot and point fingers even more. So rather than us not unifying and speaking up on issues, us not stepping up in the districts and States we live in, and us chirping away and generating white noise on the internet, how about we reverse course?

Run in your local elections. Organize unions. Start working to bring your and our communities together. Bernie proved it was possible. One of the biggest, if not the biggest, grassroots movements in memory. Could you imagine if we took that unification and built on those foundations after that election cycle so many years ago? We would, in this moment, have a powerful, nationwide voice and platform powered by the very same people who now speak loudly almost daily and take no real action.

Voting is just the end result of thousands or tens of thousands of hours of effort across the nation. We could literally be doing so much more. Together we are strong and despite the incredible malicious and absolute idiocy that is MAGA, you gotta give them this: They work together. Even if moving in this case is more defined by a herd of drunk cows stumblpeding across a field.

Xanis,

I need someone to edit out the guns so it just looks like a bunch of weirdos pointing in different directions.

Xanis,

I suggest we choose to fight at all. Which we haven’t. Somehow for the last 6 years we all continue to talk most and act least.

Xanis,

So the larger issue is that Republicans will continue pushing the goalposts until eventually a drastic action has to be taken. Better now, I think.

Xanis, (edited )

It may cost more for that individual, which is likely additive. What’s multiplicative is the number of people who don’t or can’t jump through the hoops and just move on. Having a tough time getting out of a subscription service? Insurance basically did it first.

Xanis,

They’ve always turned out in large numbers. As a general rule Republicans can and will disagree on anything and still come together to try and fuck someone over. Democrats historically tend to argue and disagree while make choices on who or what they want in regards to their beliefs instead of specifically against someone or something else.

This isn’t accounting for a plethora of other reasons such as average demographics, Republican ease-of-voting in heavily gerrymandered districts and States, etc etc. I’m convinced one super solid election cycle, including local elections, would change things drastically. Unfortunately that is unbelievably unlikely to happen.

Whatever the reason, it’s about time those of us who do not agree with the modern Republican party begin to take risks. We need to run in local elections. We must take seats of authority. We cannot allow these evil and malicious people to constantly go unchallenged.

Xanis,

Plenty of people care about a lot of things. I believe the modern problem is we can’t seem to stop talking and stop forgetting until we’re collectively reminded about it all sometime later. I’m wondering how long until it becomes too much. Because it appears everyone is tired of it snd yet so little action also appears to be taken.

Xanis,

I prefer to get halfway through a project, lose interest, and leave the materials in a desolate corner where I occasionally glance at them, think about how I could definitely finish said project for several weeks, while also finding something else to occupy my interest.

Xanis,

So, why do you believe this to be true?

Xanis,

Thank you for the reading material. I’m not judging. Just because something seems like it shouldn’t be correct doesn’t mean my perception of the topic is right. Could just mean I’m ignorant. Same goes the other way around though. I feel we all need to be a bit more open.
