aeharding,

They don’t try to kill you. They just try to propagate. If it kills you on the way, 🤷‍♂️

aeharding,

I gotchu. This is like the 3rd post I’ve seen asking how to do that (swipe isn’t immediately obvious) so I’ll try to add an edit button in the header (like to remove an account) to make it more intuitive

aeharding,

I will blame Visual Studio for anything and everything thank you very much

18+ [NSFW] Redgifs embedded videos not displaying (lemmynsfw.com)

I’ve noticed an issue where any posts that use a redgifs backed image don’t show correctly and just have an “unknown” icon. If I click on the “view externally” link in Voyager it’ll take me to the webpage that displays it correctly. I don’t know if this is because Voyager has an issue displaying it, or the...

aeharding,

Maybe you viewed too many redgifs and they blocked you? Idk

aeharding,

It works fine in Lemmy ui too. Just kbin doesn’t support Lemmy spoilers.

aeharding,

Matches post titles only. Full words. For example “X” added as filter will only match posts with title containing the word “X” (but won’t match “Extend” for example)

aeharding,

No, that was a bugfix. There was one or two places where the upvote color was using theme color instead of upvote color.

But if you liked that it is possible in the future to add a theme dependent upvote color setting. That would work better than before too because it would be the theme color everywhere instead of just a couple places that was accidental.

Guillotine would transport well by bike, like a canoe or kayak…

  1. Secure the blade
  2. add wheels to heavier end
  3. add bike attachment to the other

In fact, you could even make the wheels reusable for a nice kayak trip after using the guillotine! Win win!

aeharding,

Thanks, agreed I’m surprised I find myself preferring it!

It also provides more space for user/community instance, if that’s important to you…

aeharding,

When viewing all/home/local feeds, you’ll see the community name at the top of the post instead of at the bottom. It’ll also have its own separate line (more space for instance name) and gives more space for author name/instance if you have that setting also turned on.

aeharding,

Tell me you are not Dutch, without telling me you are not dutch

aeharding,

Not to your own personal choice, but there absolutely is downside to stigma and helmet mandates. Studies show they reduce cycling numbers which means people drive instead, which increases death and injury, because spoiler, cars are dangerous.

Good article with references:

And more on other issues too with helmet mandates, like how police enforce… theguardian.com/…/us-helmet-laws-police-citations…

aeharding,

Based on the jpeg, this meme came first

aeharding,

but in my Voyager Android app, it does a strikethru

You must be using a really old version of voyager. This was fixed a while back

aeharding,

Can you check the version in “Settings -> About”? Some users have reported issues with F-droid auto update. F-droid should be up to 2.9.1.

aeharding,

Video support in comments is currently limited to short reaction GIFs - e.g. no scrubbing/unmuting. As a workaround I recommend linking to videos instead of embedding. In the future this will likely get better :)

aeharding,

I’m currently renting a home for space for gardening. Tomato seedlings went out last weekend :)

So there’s that, and there’s retirement. Having set expenses (aside from taxes) is super important and you’ll never have that with renting when you’re retired.

I don’t consider my home a retirement vehicle. I save separately for that. But I do understand that for some people, it is, and that’s understandable.

aeharding,

If I was an homeowning instead of renting, I would have bought a much better refrigerator at trice the cost. But I won’t pay that much for an appliance I’m not going to own, and my landlord won’t pay it for one he wouldn’t use, so I’m stuck with a cheap and noisy refrigerator.

Right, I’ve been on both sides of your example. I’ve both bought a refrigerator while owning a home (and picked a more expensive model), and I’ve also had a fridge replaced by a landlord with a cheap model.

Again, for me the renting side of this is a “pro”. I will second guess not splurging if I know it is an option while owning. If I rent, I just don’t care because its not an option in the first place, and I love that.

aeharding,

That’s just a shitty road design

aeharding, (edited )

45 mph multilane traffic, with unsignalized intersection of cross traffic? No, it’s a shitty design. Just because it’s normal where you live, doesn’t mean it’s a good design.

How to fix? Just a few examples…

  • Signalize intersection
  • Slow down thru traffic
  • Roundabout
  • Reduce thru lanes, increase turn lane offset
  • Prevent left turns from side street
aeharding,

And what, are you going to restrict cars off the side street to turning right and then making a u-turn?

Yes. If there is not enough traffic for a better treatment, and the intersection cannot be made safer intersection, then left turns should be prohibited.

This is just a common as dirt configuration, especially in rural areas. I don’t find it remarkable at all.

Multilane thru traffic with turn lanes is not a typical rural configuration, at all.
