Cheradenine,

There is a book I liked about this, it is about Allied civilian bombing in WWII in general.

It’s by the philosopher A.C. Grayling, needless to say ‘Responses were divided.’

Musk's X Corp loses lawsuit against Israeli data-scraping company (www.reuters.com)

May 10 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge dismissed a lawsuit in which Elon Musk’s X Corp accused an Israeli data-scraping company of illegally copying and selling content, and selling tools that let others copy and sell content, from the social media platform....

Cheradenine,

If shitter had won this it would have enabled a raft of lawsuits and redefined section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

Both companies are of course garbage

Cheradenine,

What? He has been tried and found guilty, this is just the sentencing.

Cheradenine,

Nowhere in the u.s.

Disclosure: I’m a Leo

Cheradenine,

Yes, they were not legal in Cali. That didn’t stop employers from trying to force you to sign one though.

Cheradenine,

The crux of it is

If X owned the data, it could perhaps argue it has exclusive rights to control the data, but then it wouldn’t have safe harbor.’ if you own it you don’t get section 230 protection.

This judge is also the one who stomped Oracle, in Oracle vs Google

I deleted pasts posts with personal information in them after at least two users admitted to doxing me

After two users admitted to doxxing me, and another admitted to digging through all of my past posts and comments, I decided to deleted my past posts. One user put my name, and my husband’s name into a comment box on one of my posts, and then tried to claim he hadn’t doxxed me for that information....

Cheradenine,

Your comments can still be seen, even if the posts cannot.

And deleting them off your home instance does not mean they are necessarily deleted on others.

Russia Victory Day parade: Only one tank on display as Vladimir Putin says country is going through 'difficult period' (news.sky.com)

On 9 May every year, Russia celebrates Victory Day, putting on a large parade in honour of the country’s victory over Nazi Germany 79 years ago - in what remains an important symbol of the country’s national identity....

Cheradenine,

They did the same thing in 2023, one tank, a WWII T-34 last year.

The Second World War T34 tank was the only one present - as it was last year too.

I thought this story sounded familiar.

en.wikipedia.org/…/2023_Moscow_Victory_Day_Parade

Cheradenine,

Again, Wikipedia , but in 2020 they had ‘around 250 plus vehicles… and 80-strong (aircraft) flypast.’

The ‘250 plus’ seems to be armored vehicles, they counted ICBM and intermediate missle launchers separately.

2023 and 2024, no planes either

Cheradenine, (edited )

Yeah, the Guardian actually ran two articles about it.

Disturbing would be a gross understatement.

If anyone has any trigger points about this (more than being human in general) you really should not read the articles.

Cheradenine, (edited )

A Carlos is greater than/ less than a Smoot?

Cheradenine,

There are only 9 in a pack now?

That is the making of an epic fight if you are a couple.

Cheradenine,

Are you thinking of Stract? stract.com

I don’t self host, I use it as an option in Searx.

Cheradenine,

Oh, I am sorry, I have no idea. As I said I only use it through Searx

Cheradenine,

That would be a nice feature, currently you can only see your own modlog. I liked the previous ‘tap to see deleted comment’ as well.

Cheradenine,

I would imagine you have read your Mrs. Beetons? Mrs. Beeton’s Book of Household Management

There are some interesting recipes, and she and her book were widely influential. The book contained reasonably detailed instructions and quantities. There wasn’t any of that ‘cook in the usual manner’ that Caréme and Escoffier used. It was much more a modern cookbook in that respect.

From a modern lens she was also horrible, i.e. ‘Indian servants are good, many of them: but they cannot be trusted and will cheat if they have a chance’.

It’s still a good read

Cheradenine,

If RockBox still exists you could put that on iPods and play FLAC

Cheradenine,

A group of Ferrets is called a Business, or Busyness

Cheradenine,

Dammit I had to look it up. It’s sheep, sheep.

Hoist on my own petard I was

Cheradenine,

Hard to believe but they do. Note the blackened edges to make it even worse. It isn’t a nice char like you get with Neapolitan, or even the seared cheese you get with a good Detroit or Pan, it’s just burnt.

There are many American pizzas that are great, Chicago deep dish, NY, Detroit, on and on, Dayton style is not one of them.
