What are some nice tracks that have everything hard panned either left or right? Particularly tracks beyond the early stereo era when crazy panning was the default. Orbital's input out is one example but there must be more examples.. People should do this more

@yaxu tmbg hard panned the robot tracks and the rocky tracks to opposite sides for Robot Parade (adult version). i'm not sure if it was stylistic or just made the mixing easier, but it does make the track stand out https://youtu.be/tNZOElM5fcg

Yesterday I wrote a Rust program to render a red ball. I'm really quite pleased with the result - I've found data modelling in Rust to be quite tricky. Now to make it do more stuff!

If you were designing a file format in 2024, would you use JSON? XML? YAML? INI? I’m envisaging something that’s primary human-writable and machine-readable, so maybe closer to a config file format than anything else.

@ultrazool i've never thought to myself "this config file would save me hours of maintenance time if it had different token separators," so it seems meaningless to spend more time thinking about it.

i'm basing my impressions on the fact that ini files are mentioned. if the data is more complicated than (grouped?) key-value pairs then i might revise my opinion.

@semanticist the first thing this makes me think of is svg paths, which are admittedly not fabulously human-readable but might open up your workflow for existing tooling?
