Our second panel of the day is all about AI and teams. The panel features Susan Campbell, Marine Carpuat, Stephanie Valencia, and Susannah Paletz. To read more about the work on teams and organizations, check out OTTRS: https://ottrs.ischool.umd.edu#hcil2024
@hcil_umd do you know if they discussed whether an AI agent and one person would be considered a team? We are proposing a CSCW panel that touches on that and I'm curious how others think of it
@owasow I was listening to an interview with Nicholas Kristoff today. He argued that the Vietnam War protests backfired and resulted in electing Nixon. He's concerned the same could happen with the campus protests. Is there any evidence of this sort of backfiring phenomenon?
I have a running personal theory that no one really pays attention to the Cannes red carpet unless they’re on it. I know it’s all over TikTok and Insta but it rarely feels like a “moment” anymore. It’s been overtaken by the Met Gala.
@jquillin as someone as far as you can imagine from fashion (computer science academic), I am definitely slightly more aware of the Met Gala than Cannes!
@bkeegan@bwaber i watch ben’s videos when I'm on the treadmill, which is not that often or that long, but at least i aspire to do 10% of ben’s activity 😀
@nancybaym@bkeegan I realize I come here to distract myself from work and bad news.I like to get fun recommendations for things to watch/listen/read and catch up with you all. Maybe I'm hiding my head in the sand, but I'm ok with it 😁
@ nancybaym@aoir.social @bkeegan, that's true! Also, even the outrage is ephemeral. Every week, there's a new story, and people move on quickly to the next one.
