This transition shot in S3E9 is so random. It's a escaped dog with its leash flapping running across a street (left to right) to transition into Kumiko getting home (left to right). 📽️ ✂️

It's a transition on action, but cutting away from Kumiko to a rando dog is... :meowShrug: More animal content for me, but a little out of point.

Are there any cheap domain registrars that have monthly payments?

I read an article saying NameCheap did, but I couldn't find the option, so I can only assume they removed it.

@dopey_kun If you just need a cheap testing/personal-use domain then the <6-10 digit>.xyz domains are less than US$1/year. I just buy mine on namecheap.

My mom's backup old-phone as an MP3-player is a really old Xiaomi Redmi, and the phone basically self-destructed today. The Xiaomi account got suspended, the Xiaomi browser crashes after a few seconds, playing local mp3s just crashes.

I get that it's so old that it should be End-Of-Life, but just brick the phone by self-destructing all the features thru the internet is a very annoying thing.

Most annoyingly, I hoped to at least recover some capability by installing something like F-Droid, but the stupid thing does an APK scan and asks to login before anything can be installed... Well I can't login because the account is suspended.

Yeah, I hear you guys about flashing a ROM, but I literally have too much old tech to deal with, see the post about update the old MacBook Air's OS.

And I'll need to go visit my parents' to pick 'em up and arrange another meeting to return them. I might not have the spoons to deal with ROM flashing issues.

Also, re-educating elderly tech-averse parent's about the differences of a new OS... sigh. My dad's dementia is getting worse, and my mom is the type who needs step-by-step notes on how to use any tech.

I wish we used the 24-hour system. It just seems much more logical.

I end up using it all the time for timestamps, but I always need to take a few seconds to convert the time.

So 2am is 26:00 etc. Most people who are looking at the time at 2am have yet to sleep, so the 'day' hasn't changed yet.

Does anyone else hold sandwiches upside down with four fingers at the bottom and the thumb at the top?

If I hold it the regular way, something always falls out. Unless the sandwich is small enough or has a wrapper.

It’s a little weird when I hear a character in Waccha PriMagi! distinctly say “Card Get!” when a magical card is acquired, but seeing the subtitles at that moment say “Ensemble unlocked!” is a bit disorienting. :akko_what:

It makes sense to translate it that way for contextual reasons (“card get” being a uniquely Japanese way to use English loanwords when obtaining an item), but it just kind of twists my brain in a knot for that brief second when the words I hear and the words I see don’t match.

I'm aware of Linux stuff, I run a bunch of servers. My main computer is a Mac for now.

My Windows PC is mainly for gaming, just because many old/new games can't multiplatform. :blobfoxcry:

My really olde MacBook Air that I left with my parents can't get OS upgrades anymore, even tho OSX was supposed to be the final one. But at least it got 10+ years of service. I wonder when I'll finally have to kill it :meowthinking:

Google refuses to allow Chrome to work on it, so I had to spend a few weekends teaching my parents to use Firefox.

@chikorita157 Oh, it's the 11-inch 2015 model, so it's almost 10 years. Looks like OpenCore Patcher could work, but I don't want to risk bricking my parents' at-home laptop.

#RandomFact Eevee the Pokemon was named after the first two letters "EV" of "Evolution", because, hey English is COOL in Japan in the 90s, also エヴォリューション (Evolution) is hard to say and イーブイ (Eevee) is easier.
